The Director of Total Rewards is responsible for strategic alignment and oversight of Shared HR Service functions, including Compensation, Benefits Administration and Occupational Health.
- Leads the HR Operations function, including managing talent and establishing objectives and KPIs/targets for the shares service areas and each functional staff, to align with agency strategy.
- Engages other HR functions for coordinated handoffs and seamless service, including new employee benefit eligibility, updates to provide to employees, and thorough understanding of program offerings, processes, policies and resources.
- Ultimately accountable for the quality and administration of employee benefit programs such as retirement plans, medical, dental.
- Supports the benefits manager and designated broker and carriers to resolve major issues and ensure plan design with strong return on investment.
- As needed, provides support to the benefits manager with presenting recommended benefits enhancements and changes to CHRO and executive team.
- Partners with benefits manager to identify approaches to attract, recruit and retain top talent through competitive and meaningful benefit offerings.
- Ultimately accountable for ensuring compliance with provisions of all benefit and retirement plans and practices.
- Responsible for the direction of Compensation Manager and overseeing compensation philosophies with regard to salary guidelines, the annual merit process salary surveys and other projects related to compensation.
- Work alongside Director of Talent and Acquisition regarding promotions, salary offers and market data research
- Ensures reports required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as IRS, DOL, insurance commissioners, and other regulatory agencies are provided in accurate and timely manner.
- Reviews reports and cost estimates/projections and other relevant statistical data relating to modifications in the benefit programs provided by benefits manager and recommends cost containment and plan enhancement strategies to VP.
- Encourages and assists occupational health in continually developing programs focused on preventative safety and well-being and providing personalized and sufficient care for employees who become ill or injured.
- Evaluate workplace injuries and illnesses, analyzing trending, and identifying potential solutions.
- Oversees Policies and Procedures, including the Employee Handbook
- Ensures generalists are informed in current practices, policies, and processes to provide accurate and reliable guidance to employees.
- Cultivates a service orientation in the HR Operations function.
- This position reports to the Vice President of People Operations in the Human Resources Department.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 5 years min Experience managing others in compensation, benefits, or generalist functions, and prior responsibility overseeing regulatory/compliance reporting.
- 5 years of experience in workers compensation, benefits administration, leave administration, STD, and 401k.
- 10 years’ experience overall shared service categories.
- Specialty certification in CCP (may acquire within 6 months of the date of hire)
- Must have a demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State employment laws and regulatory requirements, in areas including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation, and OSHA.
- Effectively manages a team.
- Ability to demonstrate sound business judgment, integrity and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (both verbal and written), including ability to simplify and communicate complex information and present to various levels.
- Ability to organize projects, meet deadlines and handle multiple demands, all while paying strong attention to detail.
- Analyze and report trends, including developing and explaining various benchmarks.
- Computer literacy required, including advanced knowledge of Windows Office and Outlook particularly intermediate to advanced skills with Excel.
