The Director, Data Governance role sits in the Integrated Data Services team and provides critical enablement for the enterprise across shared services and the three creative centers. Taking a strong product lens, the role re-envisions data governance as a service to unlock the confident use of data across the organization, prioritizing key data assets that drive business functions and enterprise value. Successful outcomes include a confident and empowered user base engaged in the data to complete work processes, generate insights, and accelerate key work products; strong working relationships across IT teams and with key business stakeholders; clear and well-established policies and processes focused on strategically aligned outcomes; and sustainably embedded technologies that support automated and integrated governance solutions.

  • Adopt a product-and-people-first approach to data governance, promoting valuable data products and democratizing access through embedded governance processes and aligned policies.
  • Develop a product-first, value-oriented mindset within the data governance team, shaping language and workflows that emphasize data enablement across the organization.
  • Lead, coach, and manage the data governance team, identifying opportunities for team development and fostering cross-functional relationships within IT and business teams.
  • Utilize experience in multi-cloud environments to ensure seamless data access, robust analytics, and modernized governance practices aligned with a creative organization’s needs.
  • Collaborate closely with key IT leaders (e.g., data integration, security, business applications, PMO) to advance critical projects and streamline manual efforts for optimal team outcomes.
  • Work alongside the VP, Integrated Data Services, and IDS leadership to develop a cohesive data strategy and execution plan that aligns with broader IT and business goals.

The successful candidate will have a portfolio of work demonstrating experience in:

  • Cloud infrastructure enablement across Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  • Establishing analytics (including machine learning) and/or data engineering teams in new cloud environments.
  • Experience with cloud vendor assessments, contracting, and new vendor integrations.
  • Sustaining data and business products in a cloud ecosystem, including machine learning products.
  • Launching data and business products in a cloud ecosystem.
  • Establishing work cultures and product management (kanban, scrum, or similar).
  • Experience with operational cloud ecosystems and ‘day 2’ support needs.
  • Experience with eliciting requirements for data and analytic needs.
  • Experience with business use cases for advanced analytics products (traditional AI, generative AI).
  • Strong product and as-a-service approaches, including establishing customer journeys, design thinking, and agile development practices in existing technical teams.
  • Clear understanding of DM-BOK and established data governance best practices.
  • Experience with insourcing, outsourcing, and consultant work product management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in matrixed IT and business environments.
  • Fiscal management of team budgets and vendor and consultant contracts and outcomes.
