Oversee development of Project Management strategies and ensure continuity of work product across the Business Recruitment and Expansion operations. In collaboration with team Directors, lead and direct the organization’s efforts to attract new corporate operations and existing business expansions to North Carolina. Provide ongoing support to Vice President, Business Recruitment in all matters involving project activity and management, unit administration, staff management, outreach and marketing, and strategic planning.
- Direct the Business Recruitment and Expansion strategies – including project assignments, performance metrics and annual target goals – to recruit new corporate facilities and expansion of existing operations in NC.
- Develop and deploy sales strategies and tactics for successfully winning competitive “projects”.
- Drive best-in-class processes to enhance efficiencies within the business units. Collaborate with business units to understand perceived areas for internal process improvement and drive new initiatives from inception through developing, piloting, implementation, and monitoring.
- Provide key support for BR/EI teams regarding state incentives consideration involving business-recruitment and expansion projects.
- Manage shared services team members and related administrative functions including, but not limited to, review of expense reports of direct reports, approve unit employee records within the organization’s payroll system and provide preliminary budget and strategic plan recommendations.
- Provide project management team development by collaborating on recommendations for annual/mid-year performance and develop professional development plans.
- In cooperation with team Directors and Vice President, lead onboarding of new project managers for the BR/EI teams.
- Plan and implement the unit’s outreach and marketing operations by directing plans for outreach to outside partners and allies, industry specific conferences and events.
- Proactively maintain relationships with NC Department of Commerce program managers to keep abreast of current program policies and guidelines.
- Support strategic planning for the unit and areas of major focus include promoting staff development; proactively driving projects, developing strategies to polish the unit’s project operations, and evolving the unit’s reputation as the statewide thought leader for all aspects of economic development project work statewide.
