Reporting to the Vice President, Customer Value and Products- Clinical Data, the Director, EHR Strategic Initiatives and Shared Services is accountable for leading (1) the coordination and planning across the Clinical Data portfolio in multi-year road mapping, strategic planning, risk management, and financial planning , (2) leading and managing shared services teams and resources available to the Clinical Data department., and (3) lead strategic initiatives assigned by the Vice President, Customer Value and Products- Clinical Data as required.

Business Planning & Management

  • Accountable for enhancing and operating a standardized process to support multi-year Clinical Data department strategic planning and business case processes (including road mapping and financial planning) on behalf of the office of the Vice President, Customer Value and Products- Clinical Data
  • Serves as a catalyst to organizational performance through leadership – linking strategy to structure, building transformational change approaches, and facilitating resolution to complex organizational issues
  • Leads the collaboration with Clinical Data department leaders and business units to ensure roadmaps, risk mitigation plans, and financial planning to support EHR strategic initiatives are up-to-date and accurate
  • Ensure for uniform communication and engagement to support EHR Strategic Initiative Planning
  • Collaborate and plan with Procurement, HR, Finance and Ministry to where required
  • Support the planning and transition to “Agile Ways of Working,” aligning on a unified approach to Agile delivery that takes into account current state and future aspirations and environmental complexity
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior leaders and stakeholders on business opportunities, challenges, and best practices, and support decision making and problem solving.

Project Delivery

  • Accountable for the leadership of shared services teams (ex. QA and PMO) within the Clinical Data department to support on-time and on-budget project delivery
  • Oversee management for EHR Shared Services and resolve project delivery risks, issues, and concerns as required
  • Collaborate with DxH division leadership and provide industry best practice and leadership for the processes, toolkits, framework, and governance related to EHR Shared Services resources
  • Manage and monitor a portfolio of independent and intersecting initiatives with a value-realization focus.
  • Ensure work is aligned with DxH and OH’s strategic priorities by performing on-going and regular reviews to prioritize and monitor project performance, identifying opportunities for improvement through performance management
  • Support Product Directors and VPs to ensure all DxH products and project initiatives comply with Ontario Health’s policies, standards, and procedures, including alignment with business strategies, plans, industry, and regulatory standards

Partner & Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships to solicit and act on partner feedback, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work
  • Cultivate and enhance highly collaborative working relationships & teams through cross portfolio engagement with internal customers, partners and Executive Leadership to enable portfolio alignment and integrated planning
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to manage complex and sensitive issues with multiple stakeholders and escalate them appropriately

People Leadership

  • Proactively manage team demand/capacity in consultation with teams and leaders across DXH and OH
  • Provide full scope of leadership responsibilities to a team of function-specific resources, including recruitment, setting/measuring performance outcomes, career development/counseling, approval of leadership and training opportunities, and performance management
  • Foster a culture of engagement and high-performing teams that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates by fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, communicating vison, People Values, strategies and managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the business planning and delivery department and across the organization.

Education and Experience

  • A graduate degree in Health Administration, Health Informatics, Business Administration or recognized equivalent, is required
  • 10+ years of professional experience in both the public and/or private sector with 5+ years focused on leadership roles
  • 10+ years managing complex and strategic stakeholder and customer relationships
  • 5+ years of experience in building high-performing teams, defining the organizational structure, acquiring and developing talent
  • 5+ years of experience in financial/budget planning in public sector healthcare environment in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in strategy development, health services program planning and implementation, quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships, large-scale change, and system transformation
  • Self-driven, hands-on & results-oriented to perform and lead in a matrix environment
  • Solid conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated history driving process, operational efficiencies, and best practices across cross functional teams
  • Proven ability to quickly grasp industry and business-wide concepts to assess implications to drive actions and capitalize on opportunities.

Key Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of the technology, business and project landscapes related to client groups such as Health Care, Pharmaceutical, Finance, Human Resources, or Information Management
  • Experience managing multi-functional teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key partners.
  • Extensive people leadership expertise managing high performing cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrates experience with presenting materials internally and abroad to large audiences of 100+
  • Must embody collaboration and communication with small and large groups being ‘the face’ of our portfolio, representing our initiatives, capabilities, and services.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies considered a plus
