We are seeking a skilled and motivated Director, Finance to join our Corporate team. This position, based in downtown Toronto, offers a highly visible and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the financial reporting and analysis processes of corporate operations.
- Financial Reporting: Manage the consolidation and summary of financial results for companies within the corporate segment on a quarterly and annual basis to meet internal management and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Technical Accounting: Lead the execution of complex technical accounting tasks, coordinating across business units and departments.
- Process Improvements: Drive efficiency by leading monthly financial close cycles and identifying practical process improvement opportunities.
- Transaction Oversight: Review daily journal entries and period-end accruals to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Shared Service Functions: Oversee finance responsibilities in treasury and accounts payable shared service functions.
- Collaboration: Regularly engage with other business groups and departments to address finance inquiries and foster strong inter-departmental relationships.
- Team Leadership: Review the work of junior team members, provide mentorship, and contribute to their professional growth.
- Efficiency Initiatives: Continuously seek process improvements, propose practical solutions, and integrate them into workflows.
- Special Projects: Take ownership of assigned projects to support the evolving needs of the team and organization.
Experience:
- 6-8 years of progressive experience in accounting or auditing roles, including a minimum of 4 years in industry settings.
- Exposure to public company reporting requirements under IFRS.
Education: Professional accounting designation (CPA required).
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics, HFM, and/or Workiva is an asset.
