The Director, Global Process Record to Report is responsible for the end to end global process design and governance for Record to Report (RTR), with emphasis on global process standardization and optimization across the business. Drive the strategic direction for the RTR process transformation and support the implementation of multidivisional enterprise resource planning (ERP) and other enabling technologies to optimize the RTR process.

This is a global role. We expect this position to be located in one of our Hubs where we have critical scale of RTR operations ie CFS US Hub in Abbott Park (Office location AP52) OR CFS EUR Hub ( Office location – Cherrywood, Dublin, Ireland)

  • Set the strategic direction for global process design, working directly with Corporate Finance Services Operations to advance the target operating model and deliver process transformation.
  • In consultation with business and operational teams, lead identification, prioritization, and delivery of process improvements, ensuring they support organizational outcomes and business results. Define and implement the Record to Reports Roadmap to deliver targeted business benefits and ease of process use for the end user.
  • Collaborate with CFS leadership to ensure global alignment of priorities, management and influence of results through working in a matrixed environment.
  • Collaborate with BTS-IT on ERP program initiatives and deployment of other enabling technologies.
  • Establish and sustain end to end global process design, chairing the Process Council for global, RTR end to end processes
  • Drive adoption of global process standards and gain buy-in from key stakeholders
  • Establish and sustain process change control for RTR end to end process,
  • Provide process expertise and recommendations to advance the target operating model for RTR, support business integrations including mergers, acquisitions and divestiture activities
  • Identify, drive and monitor continuous improvement initiatives related to the RTR process area and create opportunities to bring service innovation to Abbott across the end to end process
  • Ensure adequate and timely root cause analysis to understand problem drivers and implementation of necessary corrections and/or changes
  • Define and agree KPIs and performance measures associated with the end to end process. Led benchmarking activities and continuous assessment of global process performance measures, driving measurable improvements in the process over time.
  • Drive process automation including robotics for the process area.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the finance functions. Act as a liaison with Abbott Division and Corporate business partners, CFS and other customers
  • Proactively monitor cross-functional and enterprise-wide initiatives that impact people, processes and technology to ensure alignment, maintain agility and mitigate disruption to the global process agenda through frequent communication with business partners including CFS leadership, Future of Finance leadership, functional stakeholders including Controllers, Corporate Audit and external
  • Manage key finance applications owned by CFS, ensuring plans in place to maintain service and performance levels and address opportunities for enhancements were appropriate. Eg Cadency & Cora-IC applications
  • Work closely with CFS Executive for leadership responsibilities related to business strategy, business case development, and business design decision making.
  • Work with/be supported by functional process managers FPM’s for both strategic and legacy business process and systems in the divisions/countries and shared services operations.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for change management at a senior level, which is essential for securing buy-in from senior management and user adoption.
  • Must be viewed as the process leader within the finance function and other organizations associated with the end to end process, as the position will be responsible for influencing all levels of Abbott, from executive to staff members across the finance function (Division/Finance executives, Finance Controllers, etc.) and operating unit’s business management at the Corporate, Division, Region, Area, and Country levels.
  • Interact effectively with leaders across CFS and also with other functions as new processes are designed and implemented (Information technology, Internal/external audit, legal, compliance, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
  • Minimum 10 years of Finance and Accounting experience in a complex multinational organization, 2-3 of those years from transaction through to close, inclusive of external and internal financial reporting
  • Demonstrated experience managing accounting and/or finance teams in a complex and global environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of executing process transformation initiatives or delivering enterprise systems
  • Experience and background in evaluating business risk and implementing financial controls
  • In-depth understanding of SAP or other major ERP systems capabilities
  • Program and project management experience required
  • Senior stakeholder management experience with ability to influence & persuade key stakeholders and to constructively deal with conflicts.
  • Ability to work and collaborate with others, to consider the needs of all affected groups, and to build/leverage relationships across functions and organizations to achieve business results. Decisive yet collaborative leadership style.
  • Ability to work with others in a formal process for solving issues and problems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Travel required 20% +

Preferred Qualifications

  • Full P&L and Balance sheet experience for a complex global organization a plus
  • Formal continuous improvement training (e.g. LEAN / Six Sigma) desirable
  • Shared Service experience desirable
