Directs the financial activities of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) business unit of the Detroit Market. Responsible for the development and oversight of budgets for the GME business unit and multiple DMC sponsored residency programs to support the overall Detroit Market operational and budgetary decision-making.
- Accountable for overall financial performance of the GME Business Unit of the Detroit Market. Ensures compliance with the GME Detroit Market financial strategic plan and alignment with the overall market objectives. Direct the operational and financial activities of the GME reimbursement function.
- Conducts complex analyses on assigned units’ costs and applicable third party reimbursements and makes recommendations on the development of financial strategies to maximize reimbursement and cost recovery. Responsible for the reimbursement and collection of data for market cost reporting and responses to HRSA and CMS audits.
- Sets policy for organizational financial structure and collaborates in the approval of proposed structures. Develops the GME’s long range financial goals and measures and reviews performance.
- Develops, seeks approval of and monitors corporation budget. Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, etc. Ensures the timely completion of performance appraisals. Participates as a member of the senior management team of the DMC in the development of the GME strategic plan(s), goals/objectives, policies and business plan(s).
- Provides overall responsibility for working with the Director of Physician Contracting for approval of GME residency program and physician related agreements. Provides all supporting documentation to ensure these agreements will comply with the Tenet eCATS policy. Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of these agreements across GME.
- Works closely with Tenet compliance and legal departments to monitor activities and ensure compliance with laws, government regulations, Joint Commission requirements and DMC/Tenet policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five years of progressively more responsible financial management experience, including some project management experience.
- Experience in graduate medical education or medical school administration strongly preferred
