Currently undergoing a transformation to modernize shared services, strengthen collaboration across business units, and adopt a data-driven approach to decision-making. The transformation process has a sport light on the need to enhance and a commitment to a unified approach to health and safety. Central to this evolution is the development of best-in-class safety systems that align with corporate objectives while respecting the unique needs of each business unit. They are aiming to foster a culture of safety excellence, accountability, and proactive risk management, ensuring they remain an industry leader in health and safety practices.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and leading a team (14) health and safety coordinators the Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s safety programs. This role involves working closely with the operational leaders and front-line teams to align health and safety objectives with broader business goals, championing initiatives that not only meet but exceed regulatory standards. The Director will focus on advancing health and safety systems, conducting root cause analyses, and leading incident audits to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Additionally, they will design and deliver impactful training programs that emphasize proactive, commitment-driven safety practices and foster engagement at all levels. By empowering teams to take ownership of safety outcomes and cultivating a learning culture rooted in industry best practices, the Director will play a pivotal role in embedding a safety-first mindset across the organization.
As the ideal candidate, you are an experienced health and safety professional with experience in heavy industry including construction, mining, forestry, or other heavy industries. You will bring a proven track record of developing and executing comprehensive safety programs for large, geographically dispersed operations with complex worksites.
