Coupang is looking for a talented lawyer to play a leading role in supporting our operations in India and abroad. You will be responsible for providing legal and compliance support across Coupang’s India-based shared services center(s) including HR and employment, inter-company agreements, licenses and permits, and general corporate governance. In addition, you will have the opportunity to provide legal support on commercial and technology contracts for the broader Coupang group.

• Lead and execute on a variety of legal and compliance matters across Coupang’s India-based shared services center(s). You will be hands on with end to end responsibility for legal and compliance support.
• Advisory: Provide legal advice to business partners on all contractual and related matters, including advising on the interpretation of contractual terms and rights and obligations.
• HR and employment: Provide legal support on all aspects of HR and employment law, including employment contracts, terminations, employee disputes, and severance.
• Corporate governance: Responsible for leading all aspects of corporate governance for Coupang’s India-based subsidiaries including board meetings and minutes, annual filings, licenses and permits, and other corporate governance matters.
• Commercial contracts: Provide legal support for commercial and technology procurement contracts in support of Coupang’s India operations and also for the broader Coupang group. In this capacity you will be required to work closely with Coupang’s Head of Technology Legal and team.
• Collaboration: Work closely and collaboratively with internal business partners including Global Procurement, Finance, Technology, HR, Corporate IT, and Security and Privacy on projects and company-wide initiatives. Demonstrate hands on experience but also the ability to handle and manage projects with other members of the team. Manage outside counsel retained to provide legal services.
• Projects and initiatives: Be willing to lead or provide support on other technology-related projects and initiatives.

• Must be a qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (solicitor, attorney or barrister) with 10+ years’ post qualification experience.
• Bachelor of Laws or Master of Laws degree at a national or other leading law firm in India or abroad.
• Exceptional ability to consistently deliver creative, thoughtful and business-oriented results that appropriately balance growth and risk in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
• A willingness to learn voraciously and take on new scope and challenges.
• Ability to adapt easily to rapid and diverse business changes.
• Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions.
