UMP is seeking a business development leader that will spearhead a market development program that aligns to and delivers against practice and company business objectives. This role will have accountability for strategic planning, budget management, analytics, market intelligence, process definition, tool selection, team development and coaching, tactical planning and execution. It will be extremely important that the individual in this role be a ‘player coach’, ready, willing and able to not only establish the strategy and plan, but also roll up their sleeves and support the execution of it.

  • Identify and create the core referral strategies, processes, systems, and tools that will make up the lead referral program for UMP practices. This includes primary care physician (and other referring physician) direct referrals, workers’ compensation program, community sponsorships/partnerships and sports medicine marketing
  • Develop and optimize the proprietary UMP Workers’ Compensation program in and for all markets
  • Identify and mine data sources to target and deploy the team to best meet market and practice-level objectives
  • Design and implement tracking, reporting and analytical tools that demonstrate the effort, effectiveness, and impact of the team
  • Provide insight and share out market intelligence gained by the market development representatives during their time in the field; make recommendations to cross-functional leadership on how to distinguish and elevate UMP practices from the competition
  • Coach and mentor a team of market development specialists to improve their performance
  • Partner with marketing team to optimize target-specific value proposition(s) and create essential collateral and digital selling tools
  • Onboard and transition new practices to the UMP platform; managing the ramp up and optimization of practice performance in a way that does not interrupt business delivery
  • Partner with other marketing leaders to coordinate the delivery of the total marketing program across all functions and channels
  • 12+ years’ experience driving business development and/or sales roles with experience in healthcare (happy to have your experience from other sales-driven industries as well)
  • Familiarity with best practices in referral management tools and processes including data usage, contact tracking, content generation and impact monitoring
  • Demonstrated fluency in motivating a diverse, geographically dispersed team to drive for and achieve sales/lead goals on a weekly and monthly basis
  • High analytical acumen and data-driven approach; able to use data to tell stories, support hypotheses, improve ideas, and influence programs (<3 your data)
  • Ability to deliver and thrive with multiple priorities and amidst ambiguity and shifting realities (we are a start-up, after all)
  • Track record of collaborating and supporting cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes (no silos)
  • A client service mentality – you understand that we exist to support and deliver for the practices that are part of UMP and model this to your team (no divas here)
