This position will serve a critical role in supporting Accounting and Operations through financial leadership. As a direct report to the company’s Controller, this position will be responsible for leading and managing several teams (including shared services and operations accounting, revenue and plant accounting).
- Actively lead and manage respective teams.
- Collaborate with others in accounting and across other disciplines (including Director of Corporate Accounting)
- Prioritize demands and effectively delegate when and where necessary.
- Focus on developing and mentoring direct and indirect reports and regularly providing formal and informal feedback.
- Ensure timely close, reporting, and responding to internal/external data requests.
- Challenge current processes and structure and document and implement best practices.
- Communicate clear expectations to team members.
- Proactive in addressing performance and/or accountability issues.
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing and monitoring disciplines of controls and checks across all departments.
- Analyze and approve standard journal entries in accordance with month end close schedule.
- Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by staying current with existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation and advising senior management on needed actions.
- Review reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts monthly and/or quarterly.
- Review monthly variance analysis (month over month or budget vs. actual).
- Review intercompany reconciliations.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Advanced degree desirable
- CPA required
- 15 years of progressively responsible experience in a similar role
- Industry experience preferred
- Extensive use of Excel spreadsheets

- Experience within the Energy industry, especially regulated utilities
- Demonstrated success in consulting effectively with all levels of management including executives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully interface with executives, senior management, peers, vendors, and others in order to influence outcomes and ensure smooth operations to support company goals.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and meticulous analytical capability.
- Highly proficient in SAP (S4 Hana)
- Strong ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects successfully while maintaining an even-keel approach and commitment to deadlines.
- Ability and eagerness to thrive in a high-pressure and mission-critical environment.
