CarelonRx’s Pharmacy organization is looking for a Director of Pharmacy Professional Practices to join its team. This People Leader will be responsible for directing pharmacy professional practices to ensure adherence to facility Standards of Operating Policies (SOPs) and procedures and adherence to state and federal regulations. S/he will lead the regulatory and operational standards of our pharmacy practice, working closely with pharmacy quality assurance, compliance, and clinical stakeholders. As this is a shared services function, it spans our Advanced Home Delivery national pharmacy and our BioPlus Specialty national pharmacy.
- Directing business leaders on the design and implementation of controls to assure regulatory compliance, and patient safety, and optimize patient experience.
- Directing the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Accountable for adherence to corporate policies and procedures.
- Acts as a liaison and interacts with other functional areas to lead the development of technical process updates.
- Responsible for the oversight of the department’s support for regulatory, third-party, and accreditation audits including preparation and submission of documentation as needed.
- Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates the performance of the direct report.
- Ensure the department maintains clinical competencies of laws, rules, and regulations, keeping abreast of current changes that may affect pharmacy practice.
Requires an RPh and a minimum of 5 years pharmacy experience and a minimum of 5 years management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Current active unrestricted state license to practice pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in applicable state(s) required.
Highly preferred skills and experiences:
- Operational leadership experience in high-volume mail order, home delivery, specialty, or long-term care LTC pharmacy model where all 50 US states are served.
- Pharmacy expertise with federal and state regulatory and compliance aspects of pharmacy with national reach.
- Experience in a leadership role such as Pharmacy Operations, Clinical Pharmacy Services, Pharmacy Practice, Specialty Pharmacy Services or Mail Order Pharmacy Services
- Knowledge of DEA, FDA, and state regulations pertaining to handling of controlled substances.
- Experience interpreting compliance requirements and regulations.
- Experience working with State Boards of Pharmacy regarding complaints, issue resolution, inspection, and central fill requirements.
