We are looking for a compassionate and ambitious leader to build on our success in delivering value, innovation and excellence through partnership. This is a broad strategic role and you will work closely with the Managing Director, the Senior Leadership Group and Shared Services Partnership Committee to deliver NWSSP’s strategic plan and objectives.

  • You’ll demonstrate the highest level of professional expertise and leadership in developing a shared vision within the organisation and across the local health, social care, public services, and academic community to achieve buy-in and commitment.
  • You will be accountable for the Planning and Performance Functions and the production of NWSSP’s Integrated Medium Term Plan (IMTP). You will also be responsible for ICT and NWSSP’s digital investment through the Chief Digital Officer, Business Systems, ICT Operations, Security and Robotics Teams. The post also hosts the Welsh Infected Blood Scheme on behalf of the Welsh Government, responsible for annual claims and payments of circa £6m.
  • You’ll need extensive experience and leadership of a major function, ideally in the NHS or a comparable sector; a sophisticated grasp of performance planning and service improvement, ensuring the provision of high-quality management information and data that informs business decisions, drives efficiency and improves core functions.
  • You will additionally bring experience of adaptability and leading through a background of change and uncertainty. You’ll set high professional standards, demonstrate personal and professional credibility, and have excellent commercial, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Evidence of postgraduate management and leadership development.
Desirable criteria
  • Current and extensive knowledge of the public sector/NHS.
  • Quality Improvement qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of operating effectively at a strategic level within an NHS or Public Sector organisation
  • Proven experience in working at national level with peers within NHS Boards and with senior Governmental officials across different disciplines.
Desirable criteria
  • Extensive experience of collaborating effectively with other statutory/Third Sector organisations to plan and deliver services.

Essential criteria
  • Ability to think strategically and to contribute fully to the Shared Services Committee’s development of the strategy
  • Ability to present complicated information clearly and simply and to respond robustly and openly to challenge
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage a highly complex portfolio and deliver a wide range of objectives within the time and resources available.
