One of the ways that AVANCE reaches our mission is through supporting family child care providers (also known as home child care providers). Family child care providers are a critical resource to the workforce and the families and communities we serve. With decades of experience working alongside family child care providers, we are building a statewide shared service alliance to further support this critical component of our early childhood ecosystem.

The Director of Shared Services will lead the creation, development and execution of AVANCE’s Shared Services Alliance, a collective group aimed at reducing costs and improving operations of family child care providers in Texas. They will develop, implement, and manage statewide shared services, ensuring equitable access, improved cost and time savings, and operational effectiveness for family child care businesses. The director plays a critical role in coordinating and building relationships with family child care providers and shared services alliance staff, overseeing the services and providing leadership to the shared services team.

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Shared Services Alliance (SSA) team, guiding the development of the alliance
  • Oversee and manage the Shared Services Alliance team, fostering an environment that promotes collaboration, growth, and high performance.
  • Coordinate shared administrative functions of the alliance, including fiscal management and enrollment management. Assist in the creation of professional development training opportunities, aiding to maximize the use of technology, and improving the operational efficiency of member organizations.
  • Work closely with community stakeholders, building and nurturing relationships to facilitate the objectives of the Shared Services Alliance.
  • Lead project planning, tracking, and execution within the Shared Services Alliance, ensuring that individual plans for each SSA member is successfully implemented and tracked in the software system.
  • Oversee the provision of technical assistance to members, assisting in the use of technology equipment and software. Regularly track the number of technical assistance sessions, coaching and mentoring sessions.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for alliance members, monitoring the number of training sessions held and the number of participants for each.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of the Shared Services Alliance, tracking the number of participating family childcare providers, the number of new childcare providers, and the range of services utilized, among other metrics.
  • Manage grants associated with the project, ensuring all deliverables are met.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring activities are implemented according to the operational and financial project plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field

License/Certification

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance required, access to high-speed internet at home.

Work Experience

Required:

  • Minimum of three years of experience in shared services, business, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Experience in childcare or education sector preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing a team
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships
  • High skill in organizing, planning, problem solving, and implementation of administrative procedures
  • Experience with technology tools including: Dropbox; Google Drive, and Microsoft Suite
  • Must demonstrate a high level of initiative and the ability to work well independently
  • Ability to support virtual working team
  • Comfortable with remote/virtual technology (Zoom, WebEx)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on this with attention to detail

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Factors

Occasional exposure to: biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional expose to weather related conditions when working in outside environment/neighborhoods and events.
