The Director of Payroll & Expense Administration is responsible for global payroll operations of the Company, comprised of 1,200+ employees across 20+ countries worldwide. This person will oversee an Irvine, CA based team of 3 payroll and 2 expense professionals and will be the primary owner responsible for the ADP and PwC Global Payroll systems, as well as the Concur expense management system. This person will also be a key lead on the Company’s planned Workday HRIS implementation in 2024.

  • Build out cohesive ecosystem of global payroll and expense systems in the US, EMEA, LATAM and APAC regions. Drive automation and efficiency improvements between payroll, expense, HRIS and ERP systems to support global growth at scale.
  • Partner with the Company’s PMO office to develop the technology strategy road map as it relates to the payroll and expense functions.
  • Provide visibility and reporting metrics to management on a monthly basis including updates to the technology road map. Recommend process improvements and strategic vision for the payroll and expense functions of the Company.
  • Direct the activities of the US and OUS payroll teams, ensuring that all bi-weekly and monthly payrolls are executed accurately and timely.
  • Partner with HR and payroll teams at the Company’s planned second manufacturing facility to build the payroll process from the ground up.
  • Execute annual internal audits of the Company’s expense administration system.
  • Ensure global compliance with Sunshine Act / HCP equivalent reporting requirements.
  • Continuously automate employee benefit administration for ESPP, 401K and other withholdings in the Company’s payroll ecosystem. Leverage reporting and/or AI capabilities to allow for global growth at scale.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll close accounting transactions, as well as all year-end wage statement reporting requirements globally.
  • Manage external vendor relationships and lead system selection process as the Company expands into various international regions. Collaborate with HR team to manage PEO relationship for leased employees.
  • Support expat payroll activities in partnership with external service providers and our internal Tax team.
  • Coach and develop team of payroll professionals from various levels, transactional to management including annual performance and compensation recommendation.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in payroll and expense processing, with 5+ years experience managing a team of professionals.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to handle extremely sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
  • ADP experience required, preferably in Enhanced Time & Attendance.
  • PwC or similar global payroll platform experience required.
  • Concur or equivalent global expense platform experience required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP to oversee monthly, quarterly and annual payroll accounting activities.
  • NetSuite experience a plus.
  • Management presentation experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong partnership with HR, IT, Legal and benefit teams supporting new policies, open enrollment and ongoing initiatives.
