The People Services team plays a critical role in partnering with business areas across the
NDIS Commission to deliver core human resources services, including: Recruitment; Talent and performance management; Workforce data and analytics; Work health and safety, including the health and safety committee secretariat; Injury management; Code of conduct; Advice relating to industrial relations and entitlements; Oversight of shared hr services (pay and conditions) provided under the memorandum of understanding with the department of social services (dss); Implementation of structural change, from a workforce change perspective as well as a systems perspective; and Implementation of approaches to support a diverse workforce.
The Director, People Services works closely and collaboratively with the Director, People Strategy to ensure the full breadth of HR functions is delivered to the Commission, in a way that supports the workforce.
The Director, People Services reports to the Assistant Commissioner, Finance and People
and is responsible for:
- Leading the People Services team and partnering with business areas to provide high quality HR services and advice to the NDIS Commission;
- Developing and implementing operational strategy, process and programs in alignment with the NDIS Commission’s Workforce Plan 2022-27;
- Preparing papers and presentations for the Executive Leadership Team providing advice in relation to workforce management;
- Preparing executive and ministerial correspondence, briefs, and responses to Questions on Notice;
- Working collaboratively with the Director, People Strategy to achieve joint business objectives;
- Managing services delivered to the NDIS Commission through the shared services agreement with DSS;
- Supporting senior managers to align their business needs to broader people strategies and policies; and
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders across the NDIS Commission, the social services portfolio and the Commonwealth to achieve NDIS Commission objectives.
Our ideal candidate will have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability and
have the following capabilities:
- Degree-qualified, accredited as a HR practitioner (or currently undergoing accreditation) or has extensive experience as a HR generalist;
- Proven ability to deliver HR services in a Commonwealth environment, or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills and experience;
- Independent, accountable, and able to work under pressure in a diverse workplace, with solid problem-solving skills and the ability to manage a geographically dispersed team in a virtual setting;
- High quality written and verbal communication skills and sound judgement;
- Proven experience in managing relationships with stakeholders in a client services environment; and
- Experience working in and supporting a diverse workforce.
Employment suitability requirements
All NDIS Commission personnel are required to meet employment suitability requirements
prior to, and throughout, their employment.
Pre-employment:
To be considered in this role, candidates will need to:
- Be an Australian Citizen;
- Have a favorable National Police Check;
- Have or be willing to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting security clearance.
Should business need arise, be willing to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting
Level 1 or Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance. See AGSVA website for more

appropriate check for this will also be required to be undertaken; - Complete an NDIS Commission external influences and associations declaration
form.
Ongoing suitability
- NDIS Commission employees are required to comply with the APS Code of Conduct,
including to at all times behave in a way that upholds the APS Values and Employment
Principles, and the integrity and good reputation of the NDIS Commission and the APS. - The NDIS Commission completes regular internal screening, monitoring and assessments
to ensure all employees meet employment suitability requirements
