The College of Engineering and Information Technology’s Shared Services Center seeks a Director to manage the day-to-day operations of its four units: Business Operations, Financial Planning and Analysis, Pre-Award team and Post Award team. The Center is responsible for a range of tasks including, but not limited to, pre- and post-award administration; budgeting; and finance for departmental accounts, payroll and procurement.
In collaboration with Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration, the Director sets objectives and goals for the Shared Services Center. Specific responsibilities include:
- Independently implement and carry out objectives and goals of the SSC
- Oversee the annual state budget process for both COEIT and DOIT
- Charge individuals in the SSC with tasks in support of meeting goals and objectives
- Develop and nurture a service-first culture
- Develop and implement processes and service level agreements (SLAs) to improve customer service
- Actively seek feedback from “customers” throughout the year and use data to help improve delivery
- Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of SSC tasks
- Develop methods and reports to review the status of tasks and inquire about those not meeting deadlines
- Ensure tasks are carried out according to defined policies and procedures
- Ensure all procedures and policies are reviewed with frequency to keep them relevant and up to date
- Management and Supervision of employees
- Provide staff with meaningful and appropriate guidance and coaching throughout the year, providing corrective actions as needed
- Perform PMPs for direct reports to ensure goals and objectives of each are being met, and development issues are being addressed
- Provide staff with access to professional development/training opportunities
- Review SSC staffing throughout the year and recommend (if necessary) reorganization as needed to support college demands
- Develop and carryout teambuilding activities for the SSC
Required
- Master’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or another related field
- Seven years of experience with budgeting and finance, payroll, procurement and grants
- Three years of progressive leadership experience in finance and/or administration
- Experience managing a variety of tasks such as finance, sponsored research, payroll, etc.
Preferred
- Expertise in process improvement in higher education institutions
- Proven track record of designing, implementing and evaluating new initiatives
- Proficiency in advanced Excel formulas and data analysis, along with the ability to deliver compelling presentations using PowerPoint or Google Slides
