This individual will be responsible for the operational performance of the Procurement Operations team in the Bangalore office and simultaneously provide support for the regional Global Sourcing teams, and any local purchasing needed for the site. The Director will manage hiring, training, daily supervision and oversight of the procurement operations staff, lead process improvements and initiatives which result in measurable business efficiencies while ensuring that services are delivered according to service level agreements with internal customers across the company. This role will report to the Vice President of Global Procurement Operations.

Responsibilities (Global Procurement Operations)

  • Supervises the Procurement Operations team to ensure delivery of buying activities meet or exceed the agreed service level agreements. Oversees all activities performed by the team.
  • Provides training, clearly defines roles throughout Procurement Operations, and establishes a customer service and process improvement-focused work culture.
  • Supports the implementation of Global Sourcing policies and procedures by working closely with all stakeholders, business units, and sourcing partners.
  • Designs and implements process controls, identifies process owners, and implements process improvement and best practices.
  • Develops necessary infrastructure (reporting, archiving etc.) to manage and monitor the activities of the group. Prepares metrics, status and system performance reports related to internal customer service activities as well as ad-hoc reporting requests.
  • Partners with all levels of leadership to ensure that operational goals and objectives are strategically aligned with the overall strategy of the organization.
  • Serves as the first point of escalation on internal customer requests & issues that cannot be resolved by the analysts. Provides management regular updates as requested, including internal customer service issues and resolutions.
  • Proactively communicates, implements, and monitors strategy and process updates to the procurement operations team.

Responsibilities (Local Activities)

  • Participates in, and may facilitate, the selection of local suppliers and contract negotiations of moderate to high complexity, coordinating with Legal and other departments as necessary.
  • Analyzes, administers, and drafts order forms or quotes for local suppliers for materials/products/services. Negotiates to achieve favorable terms on quality, delivery, and price to meet end-user needs and consistently deliver substantial cost savings.
  • Reviews and approves contracts in accordance with Global Sourcing policies, procedures and standard terms and conditions.
  • Collaborates with legal and other company departments and functional stakeholders to analyze risks and develop language to minimize exposure. Facilitate the local supplier selection and negotiation process.
  • Performs market analysis, benchmark analysis, and spend analysis for focused categories.
  • Guides internal customers and stakeholders through the end-to-end procurement process. Gather key information from requesters to summarize scope of purchase while identifying potential risk factors.
  • Administers contracts in Ariba Contract Workspace, including routing agreements for approvals and signatures and related administrative work.
  • Able to explain to business owners, the steps in the Sourcing process and why the different activities are necessary (e.g., through communication, documentation, etc.)
  • Controls and monitors delivery of all procurement transactions and services consistent with Company policy and guidelines.
  • 10+ years of experience as a sourcing and/or procurement professional, preferably with a major financial institution or payment card company. 7+ years of experience managing or supervising a shared service center, procurement transaction processing center or similar delivery model. 5+ years of experience successfully delivering services based on mutually agreed upon service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in people management, mentoring and training. Proven track record of managing and driving teams to achieve and exceed established goals and objectives.
  • Proficiency in purchasing systems and organizational interfaces (including Ariba, DocuSign, and Oracle). In-depth understanding of Procurement policies and procedures and their application to the processing of transactions (e.g., processing purchase requisitions, processing purchase orders, and modifying purchase orders).
  • Knowledgeable about contract terms and conditions and ability to identify contractual risks, rights, and obligations. Experience with contract negotiations and drafting (e.g., Statements of Work, Quotes, Service Orders).
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on course of action. Strong relationship management skills and ability to influence at a senior management level both internally and externally.
  • Experience developing procurement policies, procedures, and infrastructure in a high paced, rapidly growing environment. Experience in a tactical procurement environment where tactical and strategic procurement are separated under different leadership.
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and to identify new ways to approach old problems. Ability to identify and pursue multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver superior results.
  • High level of self-motivation and initiative, and ability to operate effectively as a team player.
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed (0-10% business travel expected).
  • Undergraduate degree required, or equivalent work experience; graduate degree in business, economics, finance or accounting preferred. Professional accreditation in sourcing, procurement, accounting, financial analysis a plus.
