The Director, Supply Chain develops a supply chain organization and its supporting infrastructure, which includes an environment that enables execution of world-class supply chain management at UVA-CH in support of the overall health system strategy. On an ongoing basis and with use of the master operating model for supply chain, direct and champion sourcing activities for all supplies, equipment, and services and lead the oversight of supply chain operations, including the shared service support organization, by working closely with the senior management team and hospital/clinic department leaders in pursuit of compliance to established programs. Create an environment of sustainable cost reductions for supplies, equipment, and services procured, with simultaneous improvements in the quality and service levels of suppliers.

The Director, Supply Chain’s (Director) utmost responsibility is the pursuit of cost effective, fit-for-purpose supplies, equipment, and services, balancing the dual responsibility of real savings through total-cost-of-ownership and quality. These savings may include direct savings captured through leveraging UVA-CH supply chain volume, or indirect savings realized by enhancing the overall effectiveness of supply management processes across UVA-CH.

Supply chain or procurement and logistics management (10+ years required)

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Business, Science, Public Health, or a related field, required. Graduate Degree, MS, MBA, JD, MHA, or MPH; a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration, preferred.
  • Experience: Successful multi-year track record in a supply chain organization (ideally with relevant healthcare experience, and experience working in supplies, equipment, and services categories)
  • Supply chain or procurement and logistics management (10+ years required)
  • Well-recognized as having outstanding people leadership and management skills Able to quickly grasp the supply chain implications of business acquisitions, shared services models, and business continuity for supply planning Managing and/or participating with supply chain operating model, organizational realignment, post-merger, and ERP system transformation efforts Supply chain or procurement and logistics management, All Required.
  • Licensure/certification/registration: Institute for Supply Management (ISM) C.P.M. or CPSM and/or Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM [formerly APICS]) CPIM or CSCP, preferred.

    • Present to diverse groups across UVA-CH in a compelling fashion
    • Fundamental, working skills in quantitative methods/statistics
    • Adept in use of tools such as Excel
    • Ability to solve problems with a variety of variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis
    • Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve complex problems
    • Able to travel 10% or more of worktime in eastern USA, and other work locations.
