Internally classified as “Director, Customer Systems,” the Director of System Controls and Compliance is responsible for providing leadership and oversight that ensures operational excellence in payment processing and bill/print and mail operations. They are also responsible for the integrity and compliance of the entire Meter to Cash organization SOX, Operational and system access controls. Lastly, they will own the accuracy and integrity of ensuring the rates we are charging to our customers are accurately being administered. They will lead a team responsible improving the operational and system integrity through reconciliations and compliance reporting. They will be responsible to build our operational controls to provide transparency and financial integrity across our end-to-end processes. They will be responsible for improving the customer experience in payment processing and deploying improvements based on customer feedback to improve NPS and mitigate customer pain points. They will own the responsibility for ensuring all financial records are accurately updated as they relate to payments received and mitigating any unapplied payments to avoid customer frustration and confusion.

  • Delivering operational excellence by building scorecard metrics for transparency across payment process and bill/print and mail .
  • Build strong partnerships with internal audit to ensure adequate SOX and Operational controls are in place and appropriately monitored. Support any audit reviews across Meter to Cash and monitor management action plans for accuracy and timely completions.
  • Lead a team of over 35 professionals that will support strong operational performance and deliver improved system and operational controls for the entire meter to cash organization.
  • Build a strong partnership with Regulatory and Rate Admin to redesign the rate process to provide additional controls that will drive accuracy and timely rate administration for our customers to have accurate bills.
  • Develop a culture of measurement, driving process optimization and continuous improvement that is clearly demonstrated through improved process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead change management initiatives related to finance services and processes: align leaders, manage resistance and work with key leaders to truly drive change.
  • Play an active role in attracting, engaging, developing and rewarding the company’s talent; sourcing, screening and securing top talent in the space that brings demonstrated track records of driving productivity and lean, end-to-end thinking.
  • Model a culture that improves the organization’s comfort with the speed of change, challenging assumptions, relentless pursuit of improvement – all with a high sense of personal accountability.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the OpCos and within Regulatory to tightly aligned to the Company’s desired outcomes.

Minimum education required of the position:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, accounting, or IT related field preferred.
  • MBA, MA, or CPA graduate degree is a plus

Minimum Experience Required Of The Position

  • The successful candidate will be an established, high-energy finance/audit leader with a proven track record of providing finance service solutions that drive breakthrough, strategic operational capabilities.
  • Targeted candidates will have deep experience building / leading a finance shared services platform in a large company, and there is a strong preference for candidates who have direct experience within Utilities.
  • They must be a collaborative change agent with a strong customer focus and a relentless drive to add value to the businesses served.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required Of The Position

  • Deep experience in Finance and Accounting (, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to set vision and strategy, drive performance and consistently produce tangible results
  • Customer-focused leader with experience implementing large-scale process changes
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complicated process issues in a fast-paced and demanding environment – all while building strong partnerships with stakeholders
  • Experienced working in a complex, heavily matrixed organization
  • Brings a focused cost management mind-set; proactively identifies opportunities to reduce costs and executes plans in a timely, efficient fashion
  • Sound judgement and ability to influence at all levels
  • Drive for results to exceed expectations and make a positive impact for our customers, employees, communities and owners
