Vanderbilt Health – Executive Search Team is conducting a national search for an Executive Vice President, Shared Clinical Services.
The Executive Vice President of the Clinical Support Services Division will lead the development of division for VUMC maximizing the benefit for the other clinical service divisions and achieving improved quality, safety, and compliance while achieving cost effectiveness, operational synergies, and economies of scale. The Executive Vice President of the Clinical Support Services Division will oversee the development of alignment and positive relations with all VUMC hospitals and ambulatory practices. The Executive Vice President of the Clinical Support Services Division will participate in governance and management oversight of multiple shared services, verifying the development of any cost benefits analyses, operating reports, and monitoring applicable data bases. The direct report will be to the Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors that are consistent with the clinical enterprise through leading, coordinating projects, and innovation–initiating improvement and development of new programs.
- Lead the development of Clinical Support Services Division consistent with the mission/values of Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
- Uses influence in addition to direct line responsibility to gain support for recommendations and ideas. Maintain existing and secondary reporting lines and accountability for operational divisions while also establishing formal primary reporting structure for appropriate governance, oversight, and accountability.
- Develop goals and objectives for the Clinical Support Services Division, create a plan to achieve those goals and establish priorities, analyzing the long-range impact of these decisions and plans. These goals should ensure enterprise alignment, economies of scale and operational synergies, standards of best practice, eliminate variability and enhance quality, patient safety and compliance.
- Communicate a vision for the Division with its members while modifying or creating new policies, procedures and/or methods to achieve goals. Work with finance department, human resources, and analytics division to identify responsible business partners and plan transition of FTEs and budgets from current locations to the new Clinical Support Services Division. Consider appropriate succession planning within the new division. Develop adequate administrative team for the new division.
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships and ensure the most effective operations of the Clinical Support Services Division through program development, process improvement and the coordination of processes with other departments including but not limited to the hospitals, physicians, VMG executive team, and VHAN clinically integrated network.
- Responsible for following trends and analyzing data making appropriate recommendations for partnerships or alliances.
- Establish a Clinical Services Division structure for all of VUMC, starting with pharmacy, lab and sterile processing functions. Consider appropriate additions by the end of FY 23 to be phased in over time.
- Direct the review, discussion, and evaluation of the Clinical Support Services Division operating and capital budget proposals guiding the priorities and allocation of the organization’s resources.
- Participate in the strategic planning processes with other members of the Executive management team for the organization and/or specific departments as requested.
- Provide consultation and advise to VUMC leaders.
