Novavax is seeking a full-time Executive Director, IT Shared Services, responsible for the global delivery of IT services used to enable and support business capabilities across Novavax. The scope of responsibility includes data networks, cloud services, IT service management, collaboration technologies, Enterprise Information Management, Enterprise Architecture, audio/visual solutions, data protection, and disaster recovery. The successful candidate will deliver a consistent customer experience, regardless of workplace location. The role requires strategic IT planning and tactical execution skills with a proven track record in delivering high quality IT services in a global organization. This position requires deep and broad technical skills, team development expertise, project and vendor management and exceptional customer service.

  • Sets the mission, vision, and strategy of the IT Shared Services organization.
  • Provides broad IT leadership and expertise to the organization.
  • Works collaboratively with other IT teams, including Cybersecurity, Risk and Compliance, and Business Technology.
  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring effective and efficient delivery of IT services to meet those needs.
  • Ensures compliance with industry regulations relevant to a publicly-traded, global vaccine company including SOX, GDPR, FDA CFR Part 11, NIST 800-171, etc.
  • Owns global IT Infrastructure technology, including foundational platforms for identity and access management, cloud services, compute and storage, backup and recovery, network services, desktop / mobile technology, telecommunications and secure collaboration services.
  • Measures and improves customer satisfaction and handles and resolves customer escalations.
  • Performs problem management processes, including root cause analysis and identifying and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Directs the development of an IT Shared Services sourcing strategy and provides executive oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management.
  • Oversees the formation and development of an Enterprise Architecture function.
  • Develops and manages the annual IT Shared Services budget to ensure that it is consistent with the overall strategic corporate objectives.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of IT experience with record of progressive career growth.
  • 8+ years of experience working in life sciences, biotech, or pharma.
  • 5+ years of global leadership responsibilities, including strategy, budgeting, IT operations, and staffing.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, including appropriate presentation skills for all levels of the organization, up to the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
  • Proven experience in leading transformational IT initiatives in complex, dynamic environments.
  • Effective stakeholder influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources required for success may not be in direct control of this role.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic conceptual thinking.
  • Ability to develop staff including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, services, and industry best practices, as well as how other enterprises are employing them.
  • Knowledgeable in applying shared services capabilities to achieve and maintain regulatory or statutory compliance requirements.
  • Strong third-party management skills, working closely with sourcing and vendor managers.
  • Experience with implementing IT controls and processes in highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture, including its startup and functional inter-relationships with all areas of IT and across business processes.
