The purpose of this role is to provide crucial support to the executive group including with strategy formulation, project management monitoring and performance reporting, communications, and marketing (including events) ensuring a consistent messaging and brand. This role is also responsible for administrative support functions and providing fit for purpose governance across the Synod.
- Provide leadership to the Secretariat function ensuring that both strategic and tactical governance, communication, marketing, reporting, project management and administration support activities meet both the current and future requirements for the Synod Office and identified initiatives of Shared Life Flourishing Communities.
- Lead the provision of high quality, reliable, well evidenced and solution orientated business partnering, advisory and support services that effectively facilitate the implementation of strategic and operational business objectives and initiatives.
- Provide quality leadership, frameworks, solutions, and service delivery to improve the capability of people we serve and to enable the execution of Synod Office strategy and our legislative obligations in relation to:
- Developing governance practices, systems and processes are fit for purpose and meet the requirements of The Uniting Church in Australia Regulations, Queensland Synod By-Laws, and legislative obligations.
- Developing and implementing portfolio strategies and associated processes, systems, and infrastructure required to support the strategic goals of the Synod Office.
- Developing and implementing strategic planning, reporting processes and systems that maintains alignment and achievement of priorities to the Synod Office’s strategic purpose, and operational oversight of the functions and mission support enterprises of the Synod Office.
- Oversight of the development and implementation of communication and marketing plans and activities that support the Synod Office strategy and, in consultation with the General Secretary, Shared Life Flourishing Communities priorities and commitments.
- Oversight and initiating strategic communications, providing high-level advice to the Moderator and General Secretary of the Queensland Synod.
- Oversight of event management requirements that enables the completion and delivery of high-level projects and initiatives to meet strategic and/or operational objectives.
- Ensuring an effective working relationship and mutually beneficial partnership arrangement between the Executive Assistant and the General Secretary/Moderator.
- Ensuring the Synod Office reception provides a high level of customer service and enhances the reputation of the Synod Office with those we serve.
- With Presbyteries, overseeing the co-creating of an administration support function that balances the needs of each Presbytery with enhancing the delivery/coordination of Synod services.
- With the Moderator, oversight the covenanting relationship with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) within the Queensland Synod
- Provide leadership including coaching and mentoring to members of the Secretariat team to develop internal capability and foster a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Analyse metrics and business reporting, and influence executive and senior decision makers to understand and use these to improve missional and business decisions and outcomes.
- Model the values of the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod in day-to-day work including interactions with managers, lay staff, ministry agents, stakeholders, and those we serve.
- You will have a Master of Business Administration or other relevant post qualification discipline.
- You will also have a Tertiary qualification in governance, communications, marketing, business administration, leadership, project management or other relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience.
- You will have demonstrated substantial experience in the leadership of a shared services or corporate services function and team in a complex organisation.
- You will have proven knowledge and experience in developing and implementing a broad range of contemporary strategies, programs, policies and operational practices in a shared services or corporate services function to successfully support the strategic objectives of an organisation, with a deep understanding of at least one of the functions of this position.
- You will have demonstrated knowledge of frameworks and applications that support a shared services or corporate services function.
- You will have previous experience in developing and producing business plans, board reports and consistent achievement of targets.
