The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all finance matters in the Netherlands. This includes driving process improvements, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and overseeing all corporate governance relating to the Netherlands operation. You will be part of the shared services management team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving process improvements, ensuring compliance across the globe. You will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership while ensuring that financial systems, controls, and reporting are in place to support the organization’s objectives internationally.
Key Tasks
- Lead the finance function, managing all finance-related activities, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting in accordance with local GAAP and group reporting under USGAAP
- Tax Compliance locally in Netherlands and group reporting (Tax packets)
- Work with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies and support business decision-making with data-driven insights
- Provide financial analysis and advice to optimize profitability and operational efficiency across the business
- Manage financial audits and liaise with external auditors, ensuring compliance with Dutch tax and financial regulations
- Assist with financial statement preparation, audit & tax compliance in the UK; Switzerland / Liechtenstein and UAE
Shared Services Oversight
- Manage the Finance Shared Services team, ensuring operational efficiency and timely execution of transactional finance activities (accounts payable, receivable, payroll, etc.)
- Continuously identify opportunities for streamlining processes, reducing costs, and improving service delivery within the finance shared services function
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure the finance systems and tools are scalable, efficient, and compliant with local regulatory requirements
- This will include worldwide travel
Legal & Governance Management
- Manage the corporate governance and formalities of the entity and its international subsidiaries, in coordination with the Company’s Legal Department and outside legal advisors.
- Work closely with internal and external legal counsel to ensure compliance with Dutch and EU laws, including tax law and corporate governance matters. Ensure the Company meets all legal and regulatory requirements in areas such as tax filings, applicable contracts and business registrations
- Manage relationships with local authorities and ensure timely submission of all governance and financial filings
- Oversee risk management activities, including insurance and compliance
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance teams across the globe, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain a robust talent pipeline, ensuring the team has the necessary skills and resources to achieve objectives and support the company’s growth
- Strategic Financial Planning
- Contribute to the long-term financial strategy of the organization, including M&A activities, capital investments, and market expansion plans.
- Ensure accurate financial models and forecasts are created to support business strategy and decision-making
Qualifications
- Education: A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CGMA, or equivalent
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team, with strong people management and communication skills.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze complex financial data and distill insights that drive business performance
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to financial and operational challenges
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to financial and legal compliance, ensuring accuracy in reporting and adherence to regulations
- Cultural Awareness: Comfortable working in an international environment, understanding cross-cultural dynamics and business practices
Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in finance, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Finance Director, Head of Finance)
- Significant experience managing finance shared services functions and leading cross-functional teams
- Experience in a multinational, high-growth business environment is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Dutch financial regulations, tax laws, corporate governance and compliance matters
- Prior experience in managing legal aspects of business operations, including contracts, labor law, and corporate governance
