As the integral member of the NSM Canada finance team, the Finance Manager – FP&A and Shared Services will collaborate with the US and Canadian finance team, branch managers and department heads to develop and implement financial analysis on key metrics and create forecasts and models to provide data-driven insights to support decision making, as well as hold a leadership role in Canadian shared AP and AR services to effectively administer back-office functions.
Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Reporting
- Prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts in coordination with Branch Managers and department heads.
- Monthly operating reporting including KPI’s and P&L analysis.
- Provide variance analysis and deep dive reviews of expense and sales figures.
- Work with Branch Managers to ensure full understanding of operational spend, sales and expense drivers.
- Financial modeling and business case development for new strategic projects.
- Focus on ensuring appropriate metrics are used to provide effective early warning of risks to performance objectives.
- Active participation in month-end close process ensuring accuracy of results and balance sheet.
Financial Analysis
- Work cross functionally to influence and share information regarding sales trends, risks and opportunities, and forecasting process.
- Develop reporting and sales analysis amalgamating data from multiple systems and sources.
- Establish revenue planning and analytics by branch including product margin impact.
- Engage in various projects as required and support and prepare ad-hoc analysis for financial results as requested.
- Actively collaborate with branches and other departments to improve processes, develop capabilities and efficiencies.
Shared Services
- Collaborate with Payables, Receivables and Procurement teams to ensure complete and accurate data, process improvements and effective internal controls.
- Engagement in process and system tools to ensure best-in-class tools and processes in Procure to Pay, Order to Cash cycles.
- Supervisor role of staff within shared services, coaching and developing staff and competencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field
- At least 10 years of proven accounting or FP&A experience
- 3+ years experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager with supervisory experience.
- Professional accounting designation or MBA an asset.
- Advanced experience with MS Excel, SAP and Power BI or similar ERP and reporting tools.
- Strong communication, collaboration and teamwork skills required
