The Independence Pet Group Finance Team is seeking to add an experienced and innovative Senior Director of Finance Transformation who is responsible for the creation of accurate and insightful operational metrics and financial results. Responsible for leveraging financial insights to influence executive leaders across all entities to enable the achievement of short-term and long-term strategic goals. This role will provide Strategic Guidance to all members of Independence Pet Group’s leadership team, and position the Enterprise for lean and profitable growth.
- Owns the achievement of multi-year expense roadmap, with an eye toward driving efficiencies across the organization. This individual will also track and report on these initiatives. These initiatives will span the P&L, from losses, to acquisition and administrative expenses.
- Partner with the business to develop a multi-year strategy which aligns with financial expectations.
- Achievement of best-in-class expense ratios based on organizational functions in the Pet Insurance industry (P&C).
- Establish strategic scorecards to measure operational success relative to expected best-in-class results.
- Provide Strategic support and thought leadership across the business.
- Partner with the business to help shape the enterprise-wide vision/strategy for IPG and how each of the companies would fit into the overall plan.
- Provides Strategic guidance across the organization to promote optimized departmental staffing levels and improved productivity targets for key functions.
- Partner with the business to architect an Enterprise-wide organizational structure by evaluating business processes and challenging the status quo.
- Manage multiple legal entities (insurance and non-insurance), determining the business need for independent and shared functions.
- Perform competitive analytics in relation to Nationwide, Trupanion, and other metrics provided via NAPHIA reporting.
- Lead efforts with respect to resource redundancy and corrective actions.
- Provide strategic guidance on go-to-market Marketing and Sales efforts, Retention of existing policyholders, as well as Operational Excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. MBA valued but not required.
- 10+ years of experience in the Insurance Industry including Pet specific experience, with background in multiple areas (e.g., Marketing, Sales, Customer Care, Claims, Product, Information Technology). 10+ years of leadership experience in Finance with a focus on operations.
- Proven success in Finance Transformation programs
- Foundational knowledge of financial management including budgeting and forecasting
- Experience in interacting and communicating recommendations to senior business leaders
- Influencing skills and ability to concisely articulate key insights and recommendations
- Demonstrated senior leadership in terms of attitude, initiative, and inclusivity
- Problem solver with strong critical thinking skills, communication, organizational, analytical, and technical skills
- Highly self-reliant individual with the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented, results-oriented environment
- Strong work ethic and not easily deterred by challenging circumstances
- Build strong partnerships with colleagues, desire to learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically
- Prior Strategic Consulting Experience
- Marketing, Sales, and Operations experience is a plus
- Excellent Excel & PowerPoint skills required, with MS Dynamics and Power BI skills valued
