As Rowing Australia embarks on the exciting journey to a home Olympics and Paralympics at Brisbane 2032 and beyond, we are seeking a strategic ‘General Manager of Operations’. You will lead and manage the delivery of all organisation wide services, which directly support national and, where appropriate, state and local level.

The role will work closely with the CEO in establishing, managing and reporting against the strategic objectives of the organisation and more generally the sport of Rowing in Australia.

  • Organisational leadership.
  • Oversight and management of corporate services.
  • Management of Rowing Australia’s corporate governance – ensuring compliance across both finance & Legal.
  • Work with the State Associations to establish, expand, and coordinate an effective shared service model for the sport.
  • Enable the sport and all personnel to work cohesively, effectively and efficiently.
  • Developing and reviewing whole of sport policies and procedures.
  • Ensure best practice standards.
  • Stakeholder management and engagement.

The following would be advantageous:

  • Understanding of organisational dynamics and systems thinking.
  • Strong business skills and experience in managing financial resources, a workforce, risk management, business planning and strategy development.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a timely manner.
  • High emotional intelligence, willingness to learn and able to build trusting relationships.
  • Genuine interest in sport.

Position location

Ideally the successful applicant will reside or have the capability to relocate to the ACT. The role will require interstate travel.
