Wells Fargo is seeking an Operational Risk Executive to lead a team of Operational Risk Business Officers (ORBOs) and risk specialists covering Global Operations in the COO. Groups within Operations include business and real estate services, Payments Operations, Payments Transformation, Financial Crimes and Regulatory Operations, along with Operations teams covering the business groups, Consumer and Wholesale, India and the Philippines.
- Provide vision and set direction for Global Operations risk oversight teams, including Operations ORBOs covering each line of business and shared services, to achieve long-term strategic objectives that impact organization and management across functions.
- Manage the development, implementation, and monitoring of a risk-based program for a business or large functional area with moderate to high risk to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events.
- Maintain a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
- Direct execution of major operational risk programs companywide or lines of businesses with significant risk and multiple, complex regulatory environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise across Operations, lines of business, or directly manage enterprise controls for specific functional areas.
- Influence and provide input on policy, framework, and program development for related lines of business or companywide strategy.
- Ensure reporting, escalation, and remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding operational risk to leaders, committees, and appropriate executive management.
- Identify programs or initiatives related to line of business and enterprise strategy with considerable impact companywide and externally.
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced leaders.
- Lead team to achieve objectives.
- Manage communication and collaboration with business heads, Legal, Audit, and regulators on risk related topics.
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Operational Risk
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of Operational Risk experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of Management experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Expert understanding of enterprise risk management framework including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
- Expert understanding of Operations.
- Ability to effectively manage and build relationships within the Corporate Risk function and with business partners.
- Ability to create solutions in a dynamic environment with complex risk and control related environment and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders to influence and drive timely decision making.
- Demonstrated influencing and analytical skills, especially when partnering with senior management, including the willingness to question decisions and escalate issues, where necessary
- Ability to analyze, problem solve with demonstrated excellence at identifying stakeholders, understanding needs, and driving decision- making/resolution through a consensus building approach.
- Ability to manage change and operate independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communicator, both orally and in writing, able to ask well-crafted questions and present ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
- Ability to translate complex information into a simple, executive-ready story board and message on paper.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with an ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and deliver results quickly.
- Experience in building and managing teams, including developing and mentoring managers and providing strong, proactive leadership.
