  • The Global Process Owner (GPO) Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Central Finance role is responsible for driving the Process Excellence and Transformation agenda for all FP&A related processes within Group FP&A & the Group’s support functions (including Transformation, Technology & Operations Finance).
  • The GPO is accountable for ensuring process effectiveness, efficiency and risk & controls management as well as developing centralised analytics and decision support capabilities to their CFO partners.
  • The GPO FP&A: Central Finance organisation is responsible for leading key Group processes including: Corporate Planning & Forecasting, Group Board & Management Team performance management reporting & a number of Cost Recharges (inc. Technology, Investments & Functions costs recharge to Countries and business).
  • This role interfaces extensively with senior Finance leadership at Group, Country, Segment & Function level and will be part of the Group FP&A and Finance Operations Leadership teams. It is also a key member of the New Financial Reporting & Planning programme steering committee.

Strategy

Driving the evolution & delivery of an integrated process strategy, ranging from realising short term optimisation and efficiency goals through to driving Group wide Transformation initiatives such as the New Financial Reporting & Planning programme. Key success criteria include:

  • Ensure a clear Strategic vision and execution plan is in place for all key processes, including integrated people, data, technology, risk & client outcome deliverables
  • Partner with GCFO’s strategic change team to drive the delivery of the New Financial Reporting & Planning programme & associated benefits case, including:
    • Corporate Planning & Forecasting
    • Service Charges (In Country recharge of all costs to business)
    • Central & Other allocation (to business and Country)
    • Workforce & Cost Forecasting
    • Balance Sheet Management & Forecasting
    • Management Performance Reporting Standardisation & Digitisation
  • Bringing industry knowledge and insight into performance management process maturity assessments & best practice, enabling suitable benchmarks to drive continuous prioritisation & improvement
  • Driving the development of a Future Finance skillset across the entire team and also championing across the broader GCFO FP&A community, significantly improving optimisation, automation & analytical capabilities
  • Building a clear perspective on how advances in technology will affect or enable the delivery of the process (for example, how robotics and AI will work within the process, and the implications for people, data and systems)

Business

  • Ensuring clear, integrated operating models with the Group FP&A, TTO Finance and Function Finance organisations ensuring the right balance between curated expert analysis and decision support and scalable and standardised process
  • Ensuring a clear & transparent understanding of effort and prioritisation between CFO and GPO teams and enabling dynamic decision making to optimise against agreed outcomes & objectives
  • Championing Group FP&A, TTO Finance & Functions Finance in all relevant GCFO and Bank wide process excellence forums
  • Developing, monitoring, continually reviewing and ensuring adherence to all relevant control and risk management frameworks & the Service and Operating Level Agreements (SLAs) and KPIs to maintain a high quality, standardised and optimised process

Processes

  • Ensuring the necessary framework, skillset, toolset, mindset & capacity exists in order to demonstrate Process Excellence across all key areas.
  • This includes responsibility to ensure the Finance Operations Strategy and Enablers are consistently in place and of high quality, including:
    • Metrics & Measurement: Ensuring we have the right input, process & output measures to be able to understand & improve our processes whilst evidencing effectiveness and efficiency to stakeholders
    • Service Management: Improving experiences by driving an ability for stakeholder to interact with key processes via automated workflows and knowledge libraries
    • Standardisation: Developing and driving convergence upon standard data, processes, systems and outcomes to deliver standard performance management capabilities
    • Touchless Processing: Drive manual effort and end user computing solutions out of key processes via the use of small and large scale automation
    • Analytics & Insight: Driving improved insight via quicker & improved provision of performance management information
    • Innovation: Instill a continuous improvement mindset within the team and broader organization, driving optimization
    • Ensuring we have effective controls for all key processes and that performance of these controls is monitored with opportunities for improvement identified and executed.

People & Talent

  • Leading a large team of Finance Operations professionals, enabling a people centric culture focused on ensuring high quality delivery across a broad range of activities whilst also driving a significant transformation agenda
  • Ensuring all colleagues have a meaningful growth plan and the organisation and development enablement opportunities to achieve them
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the operating model of the FP&A GPO structure, working with the Group Head FP&A and CFO TTO.
  • Ensure there is clear and robust succession planning for key roles, as well as a strategy for talent acquisition, retention and development.

Risk Management

  • Developing and maintaining the global standard risk control matrix, operating procedures & policies in line with the ORF and monitoring consistency of global controls use across the business
  • Understand the regulatory framework in which the Group operates in and responsible for delivering Management Information and Business Reviews that challenge fellow executives effectively; and work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Regulatory & Business Conduct

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the [GPO team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank’s Conduct Principles: [Fair Outcomes for Clients; Effective Financial Markets; Financial Crime Compliance; The Right Environment.]*
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements relating to the Global Process are met (this includes for the Group as well as for all local regulators)

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Likely to be educated to degree level
  • Strong experience of operating and transforming FP&A processes at a Group level
  • Prior experience as a GPO is preferred
  • Experience of leading large shared service teams
  • Capable of influencing senior stakeholders
  • Proven leader of transformational change who is able to inspire and motivate teams
  • Education – Accounting / Finance / Law Degree
  • Licenses – CPF Preferred
