The Head of Accounting will oversee all accounting operations, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organization. Reporting directly to the COO, this position plays a critical role in developing scalable processes and systems to support a rapidly expanding healthcare company. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage day-to-day accounting tasks while implementing strategic improvements for long-term success.

Accounting Leadership

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports to senior leadership.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement process efficiencies to streamline accounting operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate financial systems and tools for scalability.
  • Establish best practices and policies to support the company’s growth objectives.

Compliance and Audit

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Manage external audits, including preparation and coordination with auditors.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with the COO and other senior leaders to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s goals.
  • Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Team Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field – CPA
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and system implementations.
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus but not required.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial tools; experience with ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid: Remote work with in-office requirements one day per week at the Long Island headquarters.
