The purpose of the role is to lead the accounting, tax and compliance functions within shared services and support the operating companies with the provision of subject matter expertise on risk, internal control and compliance related matters.
- Partner with and support the operating companies to implement robust internal control frameworks.
- Ensure clear, timely and efficient communication channels exist to update key stakeholders.
- Lead business process and systems reviews, to identify areas of process and control improvements as well as opportunities for controls standardisation and rationalisation across Ireland Materials.
- Manage relationships with Internal & External Audit as key stakeholders.
- Oversee the Annual Audit and Statutory Accounts preparation and filing.
- Provide company oversight and support to management during Internal Audits in addition to assisting with the governance and timely remediation of any adverse findings.
- Oversee all Revenue audits or requests for information and assist with the governance and timely remediation of any findings.
- Ensure governance and oversight of the companys SOX framework, maintain oversight of the SOX testing program, support management with the timely identification and resolution of any SOX deficiencies.
- Take a lead role in Enterprise Risk Management.
- Oversee compliance with all company tax filings and requirement, review and advise on legislation changes. Address banking and finance compliance requests.
- Assist with new company acquisitions, divestments and dormant company liquidations.
- Coordinate annual insurance renewals and handle ad hoc insurance requests.
- This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in financial governance, internal controls, and stakeholder management.
- A recognized accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with frameworks such as COSO, SOX compliance, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)
- Proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining internal control frameworks.
- Experience leading Enterprise Risk Management initiatives.
- Hands-on experience managing Internal and External Audit processes, including Annual Audits, Statutory Accounts preparation, and Revenue audits.
- Strong ability to liaise with auditors, resolve findings, and ensure compliance with standards.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate tax regulations, reporting requirements, and governance.
- Experience handling legislative changes and advising on their implications for company compliance.
- Skilled in leading business process and system reviews to improve controls, standardize processes, and rationalize frameworks across complex organizations.
- Proven experience working with senior executives, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders such as auditors, regulators, and tax authorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure efficient information flow and decision-making.
- Experience assisting with mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and dormant company liquidations.
- Familiarity with managing annual insurance renewals and addressing ad hoc insurance needs.
- Knowledge of banking and finance compliance requirements.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
- Proficient at identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and ensuring timely remediation.
- Strong ability to analyse financial systems, processes, and controls.
- Ability to operate in dynamic and fast-changing environments, especially during audits, acquisitions, and compliance updates.
