This is a new crucial role that will make a real impact in the Met’s ambition to provide actionable insights to drive data-informed decision making and optimise business performance. We are looking for a professional that can inspire, motivate and influence colleagues in best practise data management and reporting practices. You will develop, implement and subsequently manage the delivery of data and reporting solutions, services and processes initially across the HR, Finance and Commercial data sets.

You will report to the Met Business Services (MBS) Assistant Director of Solutions and lead the Data and Reporting teams; MBS Data Governance, MBS Data Quality, MBS Data Management and MBS Reporting Teams and drive the delivery of these capabilities.

  • Lead the team in ensuring they understand the data and reporting needs of the business, and define KPIs for reporting and analysis.
  • Oversee the continued development and maintenance of robust Data & Reporting frameworks in conjunction with partners from DDaT, providing accurate and timely reports, dashboards and visualisations.
  • Drive the team in identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities from data analysis.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of a comprehensive suite of dashboards, reports and visualisations, mainly using the ERP solution (e.g. Oracle) but may at times use other tools to complement the analysis.
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for the management and control of our key business services data sets. Ensuring they are managed and maintained to a high quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement in data and reporting practices, recommending enhancements to data infrastructure, visualisation techniques and analytical methodologies.
  • Remain up to date with the latest industry trends and innovations across data & reporting.
  • Create and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across MPS to ensure that MBS Data & Reporting teams are delivering the organisations strategic objectives.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of data & reporting experience in enterprise-wide or Shared Services operations; Public Sector is desirable; policing experience is desirable
  • Held a senior data or reporting related position such as Reporting/Analytics Lead or Data Management lead with relevant experience across both disciplines
  • Experience in leading the development and implementation of data-driven solutions
  • Experience in Oracle Analytics Cloud or similar
  • Experience of implementing best in practice reporting and analytics dashboard
  • Experience in developing and improving data and reporting standards, processes and governance
  • Experience in delivering user centric reporting and placing the needs of end users at its core
  • Experience in developing and managing data strategy development through customer centricity
  • Experience of managing a team of individuals providing clear direction, support and resolution

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in data science, business analytics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field; or equivalent experience
  • A recognised professional qualification is preferable e.g. certDA, aCAP, OCP
