Samsung Europe comprises of 44 countries across Europe that represent double digit billions in revenue. To facilitate further growth we need to shift towards a consumer centric approach with insights at the heart of decision making!

This role will lead the Samsung European Office’s Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) team based in Chertsey and be responsible for the development of the pan-European CMI Community that are embedded in our subsidiaries. It will report directly to the European CMO and sit on his leadership team.

Our team consists of three teams and 13 members. The department is accountable for the delivery of shared services that deliver scale and quality of insight across Europe. Whilst much work has been done over the last three years, there is an exciting opportunity to drive further integration and application of insights to enable insight-led decision making!

Lead the EO CMI team to generate insights across category, market, retail and consumer and deliver the CMI mission of helping the business make better insight-led decisions.

  • Partner in the development of category strategy across Smartphones, Tablets, TVs, Washing Machines, Refrigerators and Vacuum Cleaners.
  • Provide market intelligence and context on macro-economic, political, social and technology environment.
  • Detailed understanding of the omni-channel consumer journey and path-to-purchase.
  • Expertise on consumer behavior, profiling, targeting and articulating consumer benefits.
  • Work across the European subsidiaries with CMI teams and senior partners to drive maximum value from the investment in research results and shared services.
  • Ensure that the business is focused on the right KPI’s and that insights help make the right business decisions.
  • Take the CMI complexity and translate it into easy to understand business recommendations with the help of infographics.
  • Maximise product launches through targeting, proposition development and post launch market response.
  • Drive visibility of competitive threats.
  • Input to, guide and shape the work of HQ based on pan- European insights.
  • Provide operational support to the teams, making recommendations and assisting in streamlining processes.
  • Manage the development of the organisation and secure the appropriate resourcing and talent.
  • Secure and manage the EO CMI budget to invest in the right tools/programmes and ensure maximum return on insight investment.
  • Act as a Centre of Excellence for CMI in European subsidiaries, managing shared services on behalf of subs and creating an insight community with established ways of working, encouraging best-practice.
  • Maintain relationship and communication with HQ CMI and align European insight plans to be complimentary to global insight programmes.
  • Act as a core member of the EO Marketing Leadership team, helping steer EO Marketing focus and priorities.
  • Provide insight consultancy and represent an objective, evidence-led voice in decision-making, encouraging a consumer-centric approach.
  • Manage relationships with partners across EO Marketing, RPMs, subs and HQ to act as a business partner and provide consultancy.
  • Lead partner agency relationships at overall account level, applying expertise to negotiate competitive agreements, setting high service level agreements, high quality assurance and ensuring best-in-class provision for Samsung.
  • Deliver insight with impact, being intentional in the way insights are communicated for maximum cut through, adapting style of communication to different collaborator needs.
  • Keep abreast of insight industry developments, have a good awareness of emerging techniques and insight advancements and make the case for innovation trials where appropriate.

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • An experienced senior regional consumer insight leader is required
  • Experienced and confident user of a wide range of both primary and secondary data sources (incorporating quantitative and qualitative, continuous and ad-hoc)
  • Experience of working within a digitally integrated organisation and eCommerce business
  • International experience required (and a plus if worked with Asia in the past)
  • Proven experience of developing high performing teams
  • Experience of working in complex and challenging corporate environments
  • A strong character, with sufficient confidence and gravitas to play the role of the “objective voice of the consumer and drive the need to improve our insights”
  • Seasoned professional with ability to inspire regional teams
  • An open and collaborative style that brings together teams across territories and disciplines
  • Strong influencing skills and networker – able to influence and engage with a wide spectrum of partners
  • A genuine passion for understanding what makes consumers tick and inspiring others to do the same
  • Strong organisational and priority setting skills
