Working alongside the Group CFO, the Head of finance will be responsible for assisting to deliver the group strategy and game plan as approved by the board. The Head of finance will be leading the corporate and operational finance functions, taking responsibility for all the day-to-day finance activities. All-rounder skills are thus of high importance. Further to the above, this role will be responsible to manage and monitor group risk and compliance, managing group wide policies and financial controls, managing capital requirements, debt & cash flow requirements.

  • It is thus critical that the ideal candidate has an overall business (operational) acumen and experience in all of the above areas to be successful
  • Manage and monitor key finance indicators and provide inputs to cross functional projects in delivering the Group strategy and game plan
  • Take full responsibility for the regulatory/fiduciary outputs of the entire finance department taking account of IFRS and the Twinsaver Financial policies and procedures.
  • Corporate finance: responsible for monthly accurate reporting on profits as well as assistance with board presentation packs.
  • Financial shared services: Managing of debtors and creditors function to optimize net working capital
  • Lead and guide operational finance function and provide financial insight in cross functional work between commercial teams, operational teams and IT teams.
  • Analyse and interpret monthly operational results with OPCO and provide insights to EXCO on a weekly basis.
  • Providing financial support and guidance on sales, innovation & promotional activity thorough to the Sales and Marketing directors and key accounts managers
  • Attend monthly key sales and marketing meetings where required and actively participate in discussions
  • Managing of all control aspects of Customer incentives & Trading Terms, including provisions & reconciliations of Customer rebates
  • Assisting stakeholders with what if scenarios, with regular presentations to ELT level
  • Provide insight and support to commercial teams and operational teams in the entire value chain.
  • Managing business risk and maintenance of good corporate governance.
  • Produce, interpret and distribute monthly management reports and other financial reports to agreed time scales. These include corporate and operational finance reports
  • Produce required financial reports for the Board of Directors and shareholders
  • Play a key role in the digital agenda of the business and specifically standardization of group reporting
  • Review, interpret and provide insight in detailed monthly cash flow forecasts to form the basis for working capital management
  • Participate, present in board and ELT meetings as and when required
  • Produce group and individual company annual financial reports and statements to agreed time scales to comply with the requirements of Twinsaver Group and the South African legal framework.
  • Provide insight and support to all areas of finance across the group.
  • Manage annual budget process in collaboration with the Executive Leaders and functional heads
  • Take the lead on tax planning, including VAT related matters.
  • Driving culture of excellence and accountability in finance across the group
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements relating to financial control, financial management and accounting.
  • Ensure appropriate external and internal audit planning are done and in place and manage deliverance of audit objective.
  • Ensure sound financial controls are implemented across the board and key reconciliations are done and reviewed.
  • Maintain the integrity of all financial controls at operations and ensure that procedures are rigidly adhered to.
  • Provide commercial and strategic input into running the business.
  • Provide inputs on expenditure decisions related to raw material sourcing, cost control and overhead management.
  • Making inputs in regard to mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and rationalization of business.
  • Close monitoring of working capital to ensure balances are at optimal levels on an ongoing basis.
  • Identify best practices and rollout to operations on a continuous basis.
  • Manage the company secretarial function.
  • Ensure strong internal controls are maintained within the organisation to the satisfaction of management, internal and external audit.
  • Drive the implementation of group culture work.

  • CA (SA)

Work Experience

  • +10 years’ financial manager experience in FMCG in a similar role
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate with internal and external parties.
  • High standards of accuracy and precision with strong organizational skills.
  • Governance orientated to ensure compliance to group regulatory framework
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and relevant accounting packages
  • Ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
  • Proven ability to successfully develop and leading a high performing team including identifying and addressing non-performance, where appropriate.
  • Strategic and operational ability with sound business acumen.
  • Strong financial knowledge in consolidation of results, financial and management accounting, audit, taxation and corporate financing.
  • Significant leadership experience across financial disciplines in a complex environment.
  • Experience in process improvement and centralization activities, is preferred.
