We’re looking for a Head of Finance Operations to join us. In this crucial role, you will oversee a large operations team, ensuring that the charity effectively manages supplier payments, gift aid processing, and recording of donations and other revenue as efficiently as possible. We’re currently going through a period of finance transformation, which means that you will be at the heart of driving forward and delivering automation within our income processing, payments and P2P processes. You’ll be working collaboratively across the business to support this innovation and change, specifically with the rest of the Finance, Technology and Legal teams, as you strive to enhance the reputation of Finance Operations as a centre of excellence.

  • Drive and lead the team towards Shared Service excellence
  • Ensure that financial controls and procedures comply with best practice and documentation is up to date
  • Regularly review financial risks and ensure mitigating actions are identified and pursued
  • Devise and operate a full suite of KPIs for all sub teams to monitor and drive performance
  • Oversee the development of SLAs with all customer groups.
  • Create and lead a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in all Finance Ops teams
  • Set high standards and inspire the team to meet them, delighting all customer groups with the service they receive.
  • Maintain a comprehensive suite of information and instructions on Finance procedures and processes for stakeholders that is engaging, up to date and easily accessible
  • Engage proactively with all CRUK staff who use our systems and processes to educate them on what to do and why it’s important
  • Accountable for line managing, leading and developing an inclusive and high functioning team. As a leader you will be responsible for creating a positive culture which recognises success, develops and drives high performance and rewards results to retain talent within the team and wider function.
  • Setting objectives and KPIs (key performance indicators) for the team, monitoring and tracking over performance with recognition, and supporting under performance through a performance management process.
  • CCAB or equivalent qualification with significant post-qualification experience of operating in a finance leadership position
  • Demonstrates forensic attention to detail around control processes
  • Creates an environment that promotes collaboration, problem-solving and the transformation of the Finance Operating Model
  • Sets a clear vision & direction for the function, carries the team on the journey, brings diverse teams together with common goals and aspirations
  • Influences through negotiation and influencing at all levels
  • Builds highly effective relationships, deploying appreciation of different points of view and developed self-awareness
