Head of Global Data and Analytics will be responsible for defining, managing and implementing the corporate data technology strategy. The leader in this role will assist with development of data products that can change the way we do business and will oversee the deployment and all new technology within our data estate. Collaborate with high-performing teams within Gallagher to inspire innovation, champion data culture and change across the organization. Join forces with the data science team to build a consistent data operating model in partnership with technology.
Strategy Development
- Lead the design of a framework for data technology for the corporate data platform, overseeing the technical architecture and deployment milestones.
- Work with divisional leadership and drive implementation of new technology and standards.
- Lead effort to help program to manage data science platform development working closely with the data platform and engineering teams.
- Create forward-looking data product execution plans in conjunction with various parties across Gallagher.
- Develop roadmaps that integrate into divisional business plans, help prioritize and stage gate to ensure maximum business value.
- Meet with 3rd party software vendors to review products, perform build vs. buy analysis for new features needed on our platforms.
- Lead identification and articulation of innovation opportunities.
- Identify and prioritize development spikes on use-cases that could be valuable insights.
- Closely monitor industry trends with general technology and Insure-tech to update our strategy and execution.
Delivery
- Drive agile processes within he delivery teams.
- Lead the development teams deploying new data warehouse technology, ensure that milestones are met and release communications are delivered.
- Manage resource and software vendors needed for our data estate.
- Manage budget for core data technology team.
- Partner with senior business and tech stakeholders to shape up business and technical requirements; bridge the technical and business organizations and ensure we are building strategic data and data science products with a combination of market/user/competitor research and metrics.
- Own and maintain overall accountability for implementing the roadmap of initiatives across partners and stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in retrospectives; capture key learnings and develop case studies as appropriate.
Stakeholder Management
- Influence partners on execution, delivery, and quality; influence stakeholders on key decisions and change efforts.
- Ensure strategy and delivery milestones is being communicated.
- Partner closely with the Enterprise Data Management team to ensure data remains a high quality asset for the organization
- Partner with Divisional data leads and CIOs to ensure technical alignment of projects.
Senior leader who is collaborative, consensus builder, looking to data and analytical transformation, thrive in building consensus and change through consistent messaging and who are focused on long term strategy and step-wise execution and delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree and solid 10+ experience overseeing data technology
- Detailed experience with agile transformation of data teams
- Experience developing platforms on Microsoft Azure
- Good understanding of the suite of 3rd party tools available for different functions within the data estate (MDM, Data Quality, Data classification and catalog, ETL etc.)
- Innovative, capacity to think laterally, thought leadership, forward thinker with a good grasp of new technologies, marketplace, and regulatory environment
- An outstanding ability to analyze problems with keen attention to the details, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and concisely, and work well in cross-functional teams
- Strong collaborator and change agent who has demonstrated experience with influencing stakeholders to consider innovative solutions and leading analysis to support the decision making process.
- Results-oriented with strong leadership skills and ability to work in a highly dynamic environment with changing and multiple priorities; ability to take ownership of tasks and manage an entire work-stream
- Experience within the insurance industry is highly desirable
- It is a plus to have the following: statistical skills, advanced analytics, modeling, machine learning, programming language skills, and knowledge of application, data, and cloud infrastructure architecture.
