AIG is seeking an experienced Head of Global Payroll who will create and drive the strategic direction and operations of the global payroll program for the organization within the Global HR Function. They will deliver exceptional expertise, consultation, and direction in all areas related to enterprise-wide end to end payroll processes and technologies for managers, employees, and HR. This business aligned, thought leading and visible leader will be responsible for global payroll delivery as well as elevating, operationalizing, and driving improvements to provide efficient, effective, and compliant people-related payroll solutions and services.

  • Translate the people strategies and initiatives of AIG and business leaders into actionable, relevant processes and drive to execution
  • Leverage deep domain expertise across human resources to help build a proactive client focused organization – globally
  • Be accountable for seeing the “big picture” – linking forward-thinking operational processes with on the ground execution and alignment
  • Be a valued, trusted, hands on and ‘in the details’ partner, working directly across HR to deliver on business strategies and plans
  • Partner closely with the CHRO and HRLT, senior leadership, business leaders, and other colleagues to align processes, systems and metrics with organizational goals
  • Focus on driving the continued efficiency of the organization using an end-to-end approach, with a particular focus for embedding new thinking, capabilities, and influencing collective ownership across the organization
  • Build relationships and ensure ongoing support and buy-in to enable the integration and centralizing of various processes and activities.
  • Ensure what is built, can be delivered, infused into the businesses, and ultimately measured by outcomes; Executing measurable progress and change is critical
  • Balance the pace of innovation in this space with the real business and functional priorities, and organizational buy-in

Key Deliverables

  • Payroll Strategy: Develop the global payroll strategy and operations to deliver services globally, as well as the design, development, and implementation of changes to them. Accountable to simplify, create consistency, and automate, where applicable
  • Update overall program: Payroll, Time and Attendance, and Payroll Compliance Reporting including the development of policies, processes, and internal controls. Ensure process design supports financial and regulatory compliance. Delivery of scalable, employee enabling payroll services in a Shared Services environment
  • Payroll Processes and Policies: Develop consistent global processes and policies and coordinate regional efforts to standardize our processes, while allowing for local flexibility when appropriate. Own oversight of all payroll activities to ensure compliance with all company-wide and country-specific procedures and policies
  • Audit, Governance, and Oversight: Ensure audit and oversight of payroll activities and processes, so that relevant internal and external compliance and government interaction standards are met
  • Performance Measures: Develop performance measures/metrics to gauge effectiveness both internally and with vendors to assess performance. Establish SLAs, risk assessments, and compliance assessments. Provide actionable feedback to realign and redirect as needed
  • 15-20+ years of progressive experience in various functions of HR, including at least one or more of the following: payroll, time and attendance, operations, compensation, M&A, Systems Integration
  • Experience in global, complex organizations; experience in a regulated industry is preferred but not required; Leadership during times of change and transformation
  • Experience effectively managing outsourced payroll providers to meet KPIs and SLAs to administer accurate and compliant payroll processing
  • Exceptional understanding of the end-to-end global payroll process lifecycle along with high level of understanding of global payrolls and the related policies and compliances across regions
  • Ability to serve as the company subject matter expert in Global Payroll and act as a valued advisor to leadership
  • Analytical skills with sharp business acumen, strong leadership, and a bias toward action
  • Active engagement with strategic plans, business, process, and architecture while influencing design and the development of solutions
  • Ability to lead within a global organization and integrated functions, generating insights, and enabling the payroll experience and processes
  • Demonstrated experience and content expertise in payroll strategy development and execution, including evaluation and implementation of payroll systems and vendor partnerships
  • Experience in managing a matrix team and outsourcing vendors
  • Experience with building global, end-to-end, repeatable, and sustainable processes
  • Functional expertise in HR technology, including but not limited to Workday
  • Experience designing, staffing, and building high-performance teams and leading those teams through dynamic business cycles
  • Experience working in both global and publicly traded companies, with complicated financial and intercompany structures
  • Proven success in working directly with business leadership and global HR teams to implement solutions while balancing priorities: Strong executer who gets things done
  • Ability to be both practical and aspirational by scoping, defining, and planning realistic but aggressive delivery expectations in conjunction with project stakeholders
