The Head of HR Shared Services is a leadership role supporting the delivery of strategic business plans across all business units in Canada. The role will lead on shifting the HR capability from a generalist service to a multi-location, multi-business unit service with clear responsibilities delivered through a shared service and operational HR business partnering capability.
The role sits on the executive leadership team for Canada and will require the role holder to work in an international, matrix structure.
This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working.
- Shape and lead a team which consistently delivers HR shared services across all businesses in Canada
- Enable managers and employees to directly access HR advice and services
- Implement reporting of performance standards (KPIs and SLAs) for the HR shared service and HR Business Partners
- Work through the BU Heads of HR (UK located) to translate the strategic people plans in to operational HR plans
- Co-ordinate and guide HR business partnering to enable operational delivery of the strategic BU people plans
- Regular reporting and engagement with the Heads of HR in each area to demonstrate performance against delivery of the people plans
- Ensure legal compliance across all HR activities in Canada (all provinces) in which the businesses operates
- Collaborate with the Centres of Expertise leads (based in the UK) to provide guidance in the areas of Reward and Benefits and Leadership and Talent
- Lead on employee relations through the Canadian employee representatives/employee forum
- Shape and deliver the Marshall Group Employee Value Proposition appropriate to the Canadian market
- Develop capability of managers to use Workday to access data insights to support business change and facilitate decision making
- Provide data insights to the Canadian executive team to drive decision making in country
- Around 10 years + HR experience in HR operations and HR business partnering in a progressive, multinational environment
- Confident working with data and numerically strong
- Able to shape and influence the case for change
- Ability to set up and run a HR operations team
- Confident with HR compliance across multiple provinces in Canada
- Experience across the full HR spectrum/life cycle is essential, being able to demonstrate operational experience and potential for strategic thinking
- Change management experience
- Excellent people management skills
- International experience preferably including North America and UK
- Experience of M&A is desirable but not essential

Additional local needs
- The role holder will need to be able to travel to other sites in Canada as well as the UK (occasionally)
