Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, Verily’s Head of IT Operations and Planning will be responsible for leading and directing Verily’s IT technology services, end-user support services, SaaS monitoring and operations, and infrastructure provisioning (including computer cycles, data storage, and connectivity). The Head of IT Operations and Planning will have additional responsibilities for strategic planning as well as execution through oversight of our project and vendor management teams.

This leader will partner closely with IT Engineering, Information Security and Compliance, and Business Partnership to provide leadership and support across the following areas:

  • OPERATIONS:
    • Technology services: software-as-a-service (SaaS) monitoring and operations (ex. running environments, cloud optimization and usage), general systems monitoring and operations (complete solutions efficacy).
    • Support services: support field technicians, support desk (help desk), end-user device deployment and maintenance, general user satisfaction for all systems, software, and hardware (measuring performance and metrics).
    • Crisis management: leadership of coordination and support efforts to ensure seamless business continuity.
  • EXECUTION:
    • Project management office (PMO): overseeing day-today project management team and assigning PMO resources to projects to meet IT and Verily priorities/needs.
    • Vendor management office (VMO): management of technology vendor contracts, renewals, and their service delivery.
  • PLANNING:
    • Strategic planning: IT business planning to help Verily IT develop its business and technology plans and strategy, both operational and strategic; planning and coordination of enterprise wide programs.
    • Organizational planning: service catalogs, cross-boundary work-flow processes, IT process improvements, resource-governance processes, dashboards, benchmarking and performance metrics, IT staff communications, merger and acquisition IT due diligence, planning, and integration coordination; coordination of IT component of new-employee onboarding.
    • Standards and design patterns: coordination of technology interoperability standards and design patterns (i.e. enterprise architecture).

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to align planning, execution, and day-to-day operations of the IT team in support of business priorities/needs.
  • Lead and oversee operational and support services for all Verily employees across systems, software, and hardware touchpoints.
  • Provide counsel to IT leadership on organizational and operational challenges and IT business strategies.
  • Coordinate throughout IT to build consensus on shared decisions like services, policies, and plans.
  • Build awareness and support change management throughout IT staff of strategies and organizational changes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10 years of business IT experience with 5+ years of systems and infrastructure operations and support.
  • Specific experience with software-as-a-service and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT operations and planning with ability to engage with technological specifics of systems and evaluate support performance and metrics.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Excellent presentation, communications (oral and written), and negotiations skills.
  • Collaborative style and team facilitation skills.
  • Executive presence and leadership traits, and self-directed in translating concepts into outcomes (“make it so”).
  • Experience working in a regulated business (e.g., healthcare provider, pharmaceutical, life sciences products, or global technology provider).
  • Impeccable reliability, integrity, and ethics

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS with Master’s Degree preferred.
