Our North America HR Shared Services/Global Business Services (GBS) HR organization is looking for a Head of North America Talent Acquisition to lead a large team of Talent Advisors to drive strategy, operational excellence, and delivery for employee talent and recruitment across Norsk Hydro in the United States and Canada.

Reporting to the Head of GBS HR North America, this role will provide leadership on recruitment philosophy, strategy for the individual Business Units within the region, and operational accountability for recruitment broadly, including across all locations and manufacturing network. The volume of employee recruitment for the region on average is 2,500 positions each year.

This role will also oversee the crafting and driving of strategy within the Diversity Recruiting, Early Careers, University Recruiting, Technical/Engineering recruiting, and Employer Branding spaces, via a team dedicated to these critical talent focus areas.

This role will lead a large team spread across different locations both in US and Canada and balance a mix of operational and development activities. The incumbent in this role will be exposed to and work with an extensive part of Hydro globally, as well as candidates and other external partners.

Your main responsibilities include, but not limited to are:

  • In partnership with the DIB team and Business/HR Leaders for each Business Unit, define and drive a talent attraction, acquisition, sourcing, and pipelining strategy across the region.
  • Oversee employer branding activities in North America.
  • Lead and develop the North America Talent Acquisition team.
  • Manage and maintain strong partnership with stakeholders such as BU President and their direct reports, Regional Hiring Managers, HR Business Partners, Process Owners in Global HR, GBS HR in other countries.
  • Proactively monitor and stay up to date on trends within recruitment and employer branding, and ensure that your team has the necessary competence and expertise to meet current and future business needs.
  • Maintain and manage relationships with both external and internal providers in North America within the role’s mandate.
  • Inculcate a culture of compliance and controls particularly to ensure adherence to applicable Office of Federal Contractor Compliance Programs (OFCCP) and Department of Labor (DoL) regulations and laws in the United States and applicable laws and regulations in Canada.
  • Play an active role on the GBS HR NA Management Team and contribute to developing GBS HR as a whole.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a focus in HR, organizational psychology, business, or closely related field; Master’s degree preferred, in the same academic areas.
  • 8 or more years of experience leading and managing HR, People/Employee/Candidate Experience, and/or Talent Acquisition teams.
  • Experience leading talent acquisition in a HR Shared Services/GBS or headhunting firm is a plus.
  • Experience is required with a number of platforms within the Talent Acquisition technology ecosystem, including (but not limited to) Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), Candidate Relationship management Systems (CRMs), interview scheduling platforms, AI-support recruitment / sourcing platforms, candidate survey technology, and/or analytics platforms.
  • At least 2 years of experience must have been leading large teams of 10 or more employees/resources.

  • Stay current on tech industry trends and related talent acquisition best practices and bring new ideas, technology, and innovations to the talent acquisition function.
  • Ability to motivate, communicate and unite the team.
  • Must possess strong client relationship skills.
  • Passion for delivering an exceptional candidate and hiring manager experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and a high attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations within both the United States and Canada within the field of employment law.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 10-15% of the time, primarily domestically, but with some international travel.
