The Director of IT Services is responsible for managing all aspects of the Administration Technology Services (ATS) department.
- Advocating for Ancillary IT Personnel & Resources
- Task Management & Resource Allocation for Projects & Shared Operations
- Customer Service Management
- Strategy, Communication & Reporting
- Shared Governance Management & Engagement
Administration Technology Services (ATS) is an information technology (IT) department within Business Affairs (BA) that provides technology services in partnership with the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The ATS department has 4 units to maintain project and IT service workload:
- Application Administration: Application configuration, maintenance, and customer support
- Quality Assurance & Analytics: Reporting/analytics, quality assurance testing, technology compliance, and accessibility support
- Service & Support: IT Service Management (ITSM) Queue Management and tier-1 technology support
- Systems Engineering: Software and middle-ware development, database administration, server configuration, and system implementation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Based on the type of degree a qualifying candidate has, there are additional experience requirements:
- Technology Degree: 5 years of progressive experience across multiple areas of technology, 3 years of experience held in a supervisory capacity, and 1 year in a management capacity.
- Non-Technology Degree: 5 years of experience as an IT Service Manager, or comparable role, as both a department manager and direct supervisor of technical staff
Knowledge
- IT Organization Services: Analytics, Application Administration, IT Service Management, Quality Assurance, Systems Engineering
- How Technical Projects involving multiple groups within an IT organization are managed (both operationally and project managed)
- Software platforms used in the management of business operations: examples include Customer Resource Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Platform (ERP), and IT Service Management (ITSM)
- Data Management practices and principles
- Technical Project Lifecycles (Implementation & Upgrades)
Skills
- Develop personnel documentation and perform recruitment to hire technical staff
- Mentoring employees with the goal of career progression
- Speak in technical terms with all technology specialists
- Translate the needs and capabilities of the IT organization for non-technical customers and colleagues
- Read data reports and translate information into a narrative for decision-making
- Advocate for and obtain positions as a resource for strategic organizational growth

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 10 years of IT Service experience with 5 years held in a supervisory and management capacity
- Evidence of professional development with a preference on certifications in areas outside their original degree
Knowledge
- Software: TeamDynamix, SalesForce, Workday, Google Workspace
- Data Mapping, Migration & Analytics
- WCAG Accessibility Standards as outlined by W3C
- Document Retention, Public Records, and Accessibility as they apply to a public entity
- Higher Education Administration & Policy
Skills
- Apply UNLV, NSHE, and Nevada State guidelines and policies for staff management (hiring, onboarding, retention & promotion)
- Define Key Performance Indicators / Key Metrics across the IT Services Team and their projects
