The Lab Director for the One Health Shared Services reports directly to the Executive Director of The Innovation Foundation. The Director will serve on the leadership team and is responsible for developing and fulfilling the vision and business model of One Health.
The Innovation Foundation maximizes the impact of OSU’s excellence in Energy, Aerospace & Advanced Mobility, and One Health by translating innovative applied research into products and services, facilitating strong partnerships with aligned industry and regional partners, and investing in the development of emerging companies – all for the benefit of society.

Required:
- Master’s degree with experience in a sizeable shared services/contract services laboratory or life sciences company focused on technology and molecular test development.
- Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, demonstrated leadership abilities, solid management skills, and success in developing and leading strategic projects with proven results.
- The candidate should be a charismatic leader and builder who can unify and lead personnel around a mission. Strong leadership skills that can connect people and processes are a must.
- Candidates should have experience operating a complex laboratory environment with profit and loss responsibilities.
- Ideally, Candidates would have a track record of growing an organization with a demonstrated talent for business development in an industry and/or academic setting, preferably handling a large, shared resource, biorepository, and complex laboratory operations in a regulated environment.
- A history of developing and commercializing a product portfolio is a plus.
- An understanding of the economics of 21st-century healthcare is a requirement.
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills are a must. Ideal candidates must be self-directed, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity.
- In addition to education and previous experience, the position requires strong analytical and planning skills and creative thinking.
- The successful candidate will have a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
Preferred:
- Doctoral/Terminal degree in a discipline relevant to genomics/omics and/or One Health (the interconnectivity of human health, animal health, and environmental health)
