The Manager, Total Rewards reports to the Director of People Operations and provides direct leadership of multiple HR functions including Total Rewards, Payroll and People Systems. This position serves as a key member of the People leadership team building programs and processes to support our People strategy.
- Oversees the design and management of services provided to employees including Benefits, Leaves, Payroll, Retirement, Compensation and Wellness programs as well as the vendors that facilitate those services
- Defines the Technology Roadmap for People Systems and how the People Systems can be optimized to provide an exceptional employee experience with streamlined, efficient People processes
- Guides the change management process including software and applications upgrades to meet changing business and technology needs
- Oversees the configuration, integration and maintenance of all People systems including SumTotal, UKG, CultureAmp, BAI and other People systems and workflows
- Evaluates the effectiveness of our Total Rewards, HRIS and Payroll programs to ensure that they are aligned with business need, strategy, market trends, company culture and employee needs
- Supervises and approves preparation and distribution of all year-end forms and filings
- Responsible for all compliance and audits and report filings for areas of responsibility
- Manages vendor and third-party administration relationships, including quality delivery, compliance with processes, requirements, and service expectations
- Partners with People Leadership Team to establish and execute CUOFCO Bold Steps, Department Business Plan, Core values, Initiatives, Processes, and needs. Drives communication of those to direct employees
- References and follows organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed
- Keeps current with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and industry trends across all states that employees reside; recommends and implements policies and procedures accordingly
- Strategizes with People Leadership to implement policies, system recommendations, vendor selection in regards to compensation, benefit programs, policies, People system set-up, administration, and updates
- Creates and executes strategies in collaboration with People Leadership that ensure that Shared Service processes and workflows are built to scale and evolve with company growth
- Leads and oversee projects within People Operations and partner with stakeholders on cross-functional projects
- Manages, coaches, trains, and develops members of the People Operations Shared Services teams including Total Rewards Specialist, People Systems Administrator and Payroll Services
- Drives cross training and transfer of knowledge between Total Rewards, Payroll and People Systems to establish strong knowledge base and coverage during leaves
- Collaborates to support Employee Surveys and Performance Management process
- Works collaboratively with Benefit Broker to manages the Open Enrollment Process including communication, brochures, training, invoices, presentations, and questions
- Oversees leave, disability, and workers compensation programs. Advise Business Partners and People Operations team on all issues related to FMLA, CO Famli and other leaves of absence for medical, family, and personal reasons in accordance with CU policies, state, and federal regulations
- Assists in the development of compensation programs, including pay philosophy, policy maintenance, system set-up and updates
- Guides the annual compensation planning process (merit increases, promotions, incentive plans, and recognition programs)
- Facilitates analysis of market trends to maintain the competitiveness of employee pay practices via compensation surveys, collaborating with the People Business Partners, leadership, and the corresponding consulting firms
- Conducts research and makes recommendations on compensation and benefit related matters.
- Leads efforts to classify jobs in compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, ensuring accurate exemption status and adherence to wage and hour regulations
- Conducts periodic audits of job descriptions, classifications and salary ranges to address changes in roles, responsibilities, or regulatory requirements
- Supports the overall People department and organizational leaders by providing the tools necessary to ensure all pay adjustments and promotions are equitable conform to CU policies and practices
- Oversees payroll administration to ensure payroll is completed in an orderly, accurate and secure process
- Manages the testing, configuration, security administration, report writing, ongoing system optimization and coordination of cross-functional dependencies with the People Team
- Coordinates with the Information Technology team; provides support and project management for third-party integrations, such as background check vendors, job posting sites, etc
- Leads the documentation of all current and new HCM workflows for efficiency and compliance
- Participate in the development and submittal of compliance reporting for EEO, AAP, Vets and Benefits administration
- Manages the reporting/analysis/audits and data integrity of People Systems data
Education And Experience
- 8-10 years of experience in a combination of human resources management fields, such as HCM/database management, Benefits, Compensation, Retirement plans, payroll, Workers Compensation, FMLA, Compliance
- 3+ years managing a team or individual required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional certification preferred
- Proven collaboration skills with employees and vendors partners
- Advanced level knowledge of HCM platforms
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and data visualization
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong project management skills

- Knowledge of business and accounting procedures and methods, including automated accounting systems and spreadsheet software.
- Strong knowledge of payroll rules, regulations, processing procedures, record keeping, and control systems.

Manages a team of 2 more including Total Rewards Specialist, People HRIS and Analysis Administrator and Payroll functions
