The Shared Services Expert Safety Program Manager serves as a safety champion within the Shared Services team, Enterprise Service Delivery team, and throughout PG&E. They are responsible for leading PG&E Safety Excellent Management System (PSEMS) implementation across Shared Services, including coordinating, organizing, and aligning the Shared Services organization’s safety programs with those of the Enterprise. This individual will partner closely with the other Shared Services Principal Safety Program Manager and help remove barriers for execution of safety initiatives and programs. This role organizes and facilitates cross-functional teams, communicates safety programs, and will be responsible for consolidating information and keeping the Shared Services Senior Leadership team aligned and on-track with PSEMS and a variety of other safety initiatives. This role will be key in strategic planning (i.e. TIPs, Catch Back Plans, etc.) and advancing the department to first quartile results through robust safety program execution.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
- Leads PSEMS (PG&E Safety Excellent Management System) implementation across Shared Services, including acting as the liaison between Enterprise Health and Safety and Shared Services.
- Advises the different Shared Services Functional Areas to ensure their safety programs meet the intention of PSEMS, including tracking and reporting the status of gap closures.
- Assists in development of Safety program goals and metrics to meet company goals and objectives and goals.
- Coordinates cross-functional safety initiatives involving coworkers and contractors
- Aligns and provides concise communications to Shared Services leaders to execute initiatives; supports execution by providing tools and support as needed.
- Provides input and direction to Enterprise Health & Safety on impacts to Shared Services when new processes and procedures are developed, or current processes / procedures are updated
- Recognizes, evaluates, recommends, and implements PG&E Safety policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with Safety requirements.
- Leads revisions to safety standards and policies to meet regulatory compliance and represent best practices.
- Tracks annual Safety Metrics and sets strategy in partnership with peers
- Reviews, tracks, and trends safety incidents across Shared Services
- Solves unique and complex issues within and outside of the department by developing innovative solutions
- Must keep fully informed on all existing and proposed changes in internal (and external) safety guidelines.
- May work on broader and more complex safety issues that may span to other lines of business across PG&E.
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, compliance, or a related technical discipline applicable to position
- 10+ years of experience in safety management, compliance and permitting, or other relevant discipline
- Ability to travel up to 10 percent of working time

- Knowledge of PG&E safety programs and external recognized safety regulations and standards
- Experience developing predictive metrics
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point skills
- Masters Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
- Experience in project management, 10 years
- Experience in utility operations, or related, 10 years
- PE-Professional Engineer license
- CSP-Certified Safety Professional certification
