Acuity International currently seeks a technical, strategic, and operational focused Program Financial Controller to lead all financial activity related to one of Acuity’s largest contracts. This person will be a close partner to the practice leader and finance leadership.
The Program Financial Controller must have excellent management, mentorship, and leadership skills, a successful track record of working in a government contracting environment, as well as improving critical business, financial and accounting processes that deliver tangible results. The Program Financial Controller must have a strong ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
The Program Financial Controller will be required to be physically present in our Cape Canaveral, Florida office two (2) days per week, while the remaining can be completed in a remote setting.
- Provide guidance on and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and company practices and policies.
- Provide leadership and oversight across general accounting, financial reporting, tax, and financial shared services functions.
- Lead the strategic direction for the accounting and forecast of the program.
- Enhance, develop, implement, and enforce financial processes, policies, and procedures for the program that will improve the overall margin positions.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, ensure compliance with GAAP, applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws, and rules for financial and tax reporting.
- Provide program forecasts to the monthly internal financial reporting process.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated program performance.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on strategic decision-making issues affecting the program.
- Create reports that help senior leadership understand program financials.
- Advise the Business Unit and Programs on contract accounting and financial accounting matters.
- Oversee the documentation and evaluation of compliance with Government regulations related to contract.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years progressive experience in government contract finance and accounting.
- Understanding of applicable laws and regulations; particularly in Government Contracting.
- Relevant professional and industry experience related to FAR/CAS, Forward Pricing Rate Agreements (FPRA), Audit, and Government compliance.
- Knowledge of federal regulation on taxes and reporting.
- Prior experience in Deltek Costpoint and Time and Expense (T&E).
- Experience in budgeting, planning, rate development.
- Proven experience in financial project accounting.
- Understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
- Strong knowledge of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with strong organization and priority setting skills.
- Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel.
- Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so people of all levels can understand.
- Prior DCAA audit experience (preferred).
EDUCATION
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in business, accounting, finance or related field is required. A Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
