Service Unit Tasks (inclusive but not limited to):

  • To manage projects and implement solutions
  • To manage the development, implementation and harmonization of new business practices and processes in compliance with BASF Group requirements
  • Perform other duties as and when delegated
  • Develops concepts, optimizes processes to be business orientated, and coordinates these with the partners in (CoE) Centers of Expertise for Governance and Information Management.
  • Finds opportunities for technical implementations.
  • Encourages the introduction of technical and operational solutions and prepares the unit for future changes.
  • Brings in own technical expertise. This contributes to the successful, sustainable and compliant operation of the “end-to-end processes” of Purchase-to-pay & across all SDUs.
  • Continuously enhances the company’s own and thus available expertise. Proactively introduces expertise into expert communities. Ensures the documentation of expertise and passes it on to the team.
  • Seeks “best-practice solutions” within and outside of own unit and examines the ability to work in own and all-embracing field
  • Initiates unit-wide projects for professional development
  • Responsible for cross-departmental exchange of ideas.
  • Presenting the unit in GB shared service, GB countries and GB global communities
  • To coach and support on process knowledge and in troubleshooting to resolve issues
  • To backup, assist with and perform Purchase-to-pay tasks of service teams when required

Compliance:

  • To manage and participate in any compliance audits
  • To support in ensuring all documentations and processes are updated and compliant
  • To enforce compliance to BASF guidelines and policies, Purchase-to-pay Compliance requirements, local regulation and statutory requirements

Service Management:

  • To support the Purchase-to-pay team members to deliver services within agreed service levels
  • To support in ensuring internal business partners queries and ad-hoc requests are attended and resolved timely, responsible and in a proactive manner

Quality and Continuous Improvement:

  • To identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement measures in consultation with Subject Area Lead
  • To support standardization / differentiation across regions / counties and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas, system and tools in consultation with Subject Area Lead

Planning and Controlling:

  • To manage costs within project budgets
  • To plan and monitor project resources / man days
  • Bears responsibility for FTE budget of own team

Project Management:

  • Manage business requirement / variation from global / regional process, preparation of business case and escalation to relevant global/regional service units.
  • Support regional and BSSCKL’s Change Management.
  • Define service unit specification for project implementation
  • Provide guidance as well as proactive consulting for optimization of process.

Resource Management:

  • To allocate resources and responsibilities in Technology Team to deliver projects, digitalization and process improvements in a high quality manner
  • To recruit in line with budget, ensuring that candidates chosen meet requirements and have further development potential
  • Develops employees by identification of their strengths and development needs, agreement on development measures as well as their implementation and result validation (BASF Employee Development). Raises employee’s awareness and interest in personal and professional development
  • To conduct regular team meetings and individual reviews to ensure group and/or individual’s issues are recognized and resolved in a timely and orderly manner

Knowledge Management:

  • To support in ensuring compliant and consumable documentation of process knowledge
  • To ensure compliant and consumable documentation of projects and related process, system & tool changes
  • To ensure effective knowledge transfer & sharing as for a sustainable development of knowledge within the team

Professional guidance:

  • Provide guidance and support to the designated Purchase-to-pay team
  • Collaborate with managers in providing feedback and reinforcement to team members regarding development needs and opportunities, and secure resources to support development efforts.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration or Engineering; and/or
  • Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain (CIPS)
  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration will be an advantage

Working Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Finance & Accounting or/and Procurement expertise including 5 years of leadership experience
  • Experienced in SAP S4 Hana implementation
  • External experience in a Shared Service Center or business process outsourcing environment will be an added advantage.

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Purchase-to-pay or Book-to-report or Order-to-cash.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of SAP ERP and SAP BW systems
  • Knowledge and experience of MS office tools.
  • Proficiency in English with good communication skills.
