The Category Manager will be responsible for identifying, structuring and executing sourcing initiatives within the Category budget, develop sourcing strategies and applies category management principles to leverage High Liner’s scale focusing on simplification and driving value to the organization.

  • In partnership with the Business Units, develop long-term Category Strategies based on the organization’s needs in Canada and the US;
  • Lead and execute category management sourcing activities including RFx, supplier selection, negotiation and signing of contracts, sourcing and planning strategies, monitoring of supplier performance, etc;
  • Lead cross-functional teams in negotiating legally binding contracts, agreements or instruments such as lease agreements, purchase orders or contracts utilizing both custom and standard contract terms and conditions while ensuring that they are as favorable to HLF’s business interests as possible, minimize risk and are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Owns supplier continuous improvement roadmap by partnering to develop opportunities and drive improvement of key functional metrics and reductions in operating costs in partnership with the Business or Function
  • Drive consolidation of spend and seek out synergies across Business Units where applicable, by forming and leading cross-functional strategic sourcing teams to develop and implement category/commodity strategies and to drive cost from individual spend sub-categories
  • Develop risk management strategies for the category in collaboration with the relevant department
  • Manage and develop relations with key suppliers in keeping with industry best practices
  • University degree in a relevant field of study (commerce, supply chain, engineering, information technology)
  • 7+ years of relevant strategic sourcing, supply chain and/or purchasing work experience
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Excellent Excel and spreadsheet analysis
  • Ability to influence without formal authority
  • Knowledge of Sourcing in Consumer Goods industry is an asset
  • Completion of (or working towards) an SCMP designation, APICS, P.Log or other purchasing designation is an asset.
