This role manages and oversees the financial accounting function for entities across Orica’s North America operations, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and Orica’s financial controls and standards. The role is a regional leader who will coordinate across the local and Global Business Services (GBS) finance teams.

This position will require you to report to the Centennial, CO office at least three days a week.

Management, Financial Reporting & Control

• Lead and deliver regional month end processes and procedures, including financial results close and the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations. Coordinate across the Regional and Global Business Services (GBS) finance teams.
• Ensure all transactions are appropriately recorded, and that financial information reported has integrity and consistently complies with Orica’s accounting policies.
• Ensure appropriate financial and accounting internal controls are embedded and maintained.
• Oversee internal assurance processes across the region including the bi-annual Balance Sheet Review and Letter of Assurance.
• Manage the preparation, completion, and submission of timely and accurate regional/ local financial statements. Includes the preparation and review of financial statement materials and supporting workings including sub consolidations.
• Lead external audit relationship from a regional and country perspective. Ensure audit related deliverables are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Lead and ensure regional compliance with technical accounting matters including the impacts of changes to and implementation of new accounting standards, including completion of asset impairment testing and coordination with taxation specialists on key matters.
• Provide financial accounting input and assist with the preparation of regional forecasts and budgets. Support of any finance projects, cost savings initiatives or benefits programs, or ad hoc tasks as directed.

Group Level Statutory Participation

• Timely and accurate completion of regional filings and shareholder reports.
• Preparation of legal entity statutory accounts and Investor Relations reporting.
• Manage the information provided to the Orica Tax Group for tax compliance.

Administration and Compliance

• Lead regional financial controlling team leveraging a combination of in Region and Global Business Services staff.
• Regional expert on technical accounting matters.
• Ensure regional compliance with relevant Orica standards, Segregation of Duties and Orica’s financial delegation of authority limits.
• Compliance with all tax, treasury, statutory and financial policies .
• Lead and coordinate completion and submission of various data survey’s involving financial information.

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• Professional designation CA, CMA, or CPA
• At least 3 years of Big 4 experience
• Experience in a large, global business
• 8+ years post graduate experience in accounting or finance (or related discipline)
• People leadership experience
• Excellent knowledge of accounting standards
• Excel knowledge essential
• SAP S4 Hana experience preferred
