The Role

Data is one of Beazley’s greatest assets. As a Regulatory Intelligence Product Owner you will be responsible for owning the Regulatory data products and developing the capabilities required to support your customer. You will lead use of data by the various compliance teams and be responsible for new and improved dashboarding that enhances business insight and value delivery across functional teams. You will also work with the Chief Data Officer to mature data literacy and capability as Beazley undertakes a significant investment in modernization, enabling you to embed a culture of data excellence in Regulatory data products.

  • Act as product owner for regulatory data reporting and intelligence across Beazley, working with stakeholders from across the business and data team deliver enhanced outcomes.
  • Develop your products and lead the team to unlock the data benefits and advantages afforded by our Modernisation journey.
  • Gather and own requirements from business stakeholders regarding data product development and improvement
  • Define the requirements for new enterprise wide applications and how they are managed, ensuring relevant stakeholders are consulted
  • Represents the domain in the data governance committee and escalates issues to the data office as appropriate
  • Review policy, methodology and standards, and ensure these are adhered to during product development
  • Evaluate the performance of the data product against KPIs defined by the business.
  • Support data custodians and stewards to implement and enforce standards
  • Notify domain teams on reusable components, accelerators and shared framework to reduce duplicate effort
  • Devise and monitor appropriate metrics to measure capacity and output from the team in accordance with the broker relations and CDO strategy
  • Identify and deliver improved and alternative ways of reporting, e.g. outsourcing, automation, increased self-serve, and analytical tools
  • Devise innovative process solutions to increase the efficiency of the team and identify opportunities for adding value within the business
  • Works in collaboration with other Product Owners / Capability Leads, within the Platform and across Platforms, to maximise alignment and reuse and avoid conflicts and duplication of work
  • Works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand, analyse, articulate and implement requirements that enhance broker reporting
  • Represent the data team on projects to deliver our strategy and drive adoption of our data tooling – data mesh, data management framework, MDM/RDM
  • Support the Data Value Management team implement best practices and drive the required level of data ownership and stewardship across the group to ensure data is of the required quality
  • Provide leadership, direction, development and support to direct reports (including off-shore resources)
  • Liaise with the Risk Management function to ensure that appropriate controls are operating and signed off to maintain data standards, and controls.
  • Develop awareness of market initiatives regarding broker relations, representing Beazley, as appropriate, on internal / external committees.

We’re looking for candidates with experience of owning and developing data products that enable regulatory reporting, operations and intelligence. Someone who brings strong technical skills and who is used to partnering with Beazley stakeholders and the compliance teams, whilst collaborating across an organisation is key. We are looking for someone who can innovate, and who knows how to encourage performance and motivate peers and the wider organisation to embrace the opportunities presented by data analysis.

The successful candidate should have a passion for data and a curious mindset both for Beazley and the wider insurance industry. Great communication skills across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent Data internally and externally to our colleagues and clients.

Skills And Abilities

  • Building reporting dashboards to cater for business / regulatory data needs
  • Understanding information flows from marketing and sales, Risk and Quality, finance as well as how information is used for reporting
  • Report using statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in data sets
  • Review data reports for quality assurance purposes
  • Monitor data to identify changes in financial and business trends
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to existing processes and for new reporting to support CDO and regulatory data objectives
  • Ability to identify and help the business to assess options and solutions that best fit requirements
  • Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise
  • Stakeholder management and ability to communicate concisely at a number of levels
  • Understands insurance principles and strategic drivers

Knowledge And Experience

  • Experience working with UK data that are provided for regulatory submission
  • Strong experience with Power BI to deliver reporting solutions and dashboards that enhance business decision making

Managing user experience / dashboards design

  • Implementing security
  • Implementing integration
  • Performing solutions deployment and testing
  • Creating and configuring Power Apps
  • Experience in data modelling, SQL, Azure DevOps
  • Skills in data engineering technologies like Spark, Snowflake / Snowpark, DataBricks
  • Experience in managing and manipulating large internal and external datasets
  • Use of various business analysis and project management tools covering scope definition, requirements documentation and progress reporting
  • Knowledge of relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices
  • Excellent analytical skills across descriptive and/or predictive analytics
  • Proven team player with ability to work with all levels in a highly intellectual, collaborative, and fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor them appropriately for different audiences, technical backgrounds, and seniority
