Aegon is a multinational financial services group headquartered in The Hague, the Netherlands. The company has multiple locations across the globe, with core markets in UK and the US, growth markets in China, Brazil and Iberia and an Asset Management organization with locations in UK, US and Hungary. Aegon Global Business Solutions Center is supporting these businesses with IT, Finance, Risk, Model Validation, Actuarial, Audit and Asset management services with a growing team of approx. 300 people, based in Budapest, Hungary.

  • Manage activities of assigned team including supervisors and/or individual contributors.
  • Adapt department plans to address resource and operational challenges. Operates mostly within their own function but participates in cross-functional initiatives.
  • Understand and communicate directives from senior management.
  • Hold one-on-one meetings with employees on performance and career development.
  • Gather information and handle tactical questions for third party firms; complete or review issue papers and control memos.
  • Coordinate and review local, state, and federal tax withholding deposits and information reporting return filings associated with Forms 1099, 1098,1042, 5498, 945, 941, and W2, as well as financial and management reports.
  • Review activities related to Corporate Finance deliverables including IFRS17 related tasks, broader financial reporting tasks and reconciliations.
  • Identify potential accounting issues/errors and escalate appropriately.
  • Effectively manages multiple projects and deadlines and resolves conflicting priorities.
  • Review, design and implement process and control improvements in area of expertise.
  • Influence and lead a team in a way which aligns and promotes their given department’s strategy and values.
  • Masters degree in accounting, tax or finance, or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum 10-12 years of accounting/finance/tax experience in broader Financial Services Industry (not just insurance), but well founded in economics/financial services.
  • Affinity with taxation.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Experience in building up and managing a Shared Service Center.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, to diverse audiences.
  • Organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel and financial business systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of assigned business area (for example, accounting, information reporting, investments, corporate finance).
  • Experience in a Big Four accounting firm.
